Hi Jade, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Wow, where do I start? Makeup and skincare has been a huge part of my lode since I could walk. Growing up in department stores shopping with my grandmother. She was obsessed with luxury skincare and I remember I started using Clinque 3 step at 13 and I have not put the skincare down. I remember helping my girlfriends put their make-up on before we would go out. The year was 1999 and CoverGirl had this dark blue eyeshadow quad and Christian Diors iridescent lipstick! I have been blessing faces with my brushes for a very long time. Had my time with Estée Lauder and was a cosmetic manager at Dillard’s, I’ve always been a freelance makeup artist. I now live to teach. I am an educator of all things cosmetic. I am currently a freelancer for Anastasia Beverly Hills. You can find me at all the Sephora stores in Houston!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing is ever easy!!! I think the struggle is staying current. Lol. We live in such a young world. And make up changes so much. So I’ve always found it so fun to learn from other artists. These young artists are amazing. As challenging as it can be. It’s also very fun!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Well, I love skin. I am 41 years old. And I’ve never had Botox. I am obsessed with skincare. I have clients who tell me how soft their skin lasts after my makeup application. I feel everything is fixable. Trust me. I would not look like this if it was not for these counters! I love helping. I know sometimes coming in a store can be overwhelming. Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
My diary. I feel like I’m in a world where social media plays a huge part in our lives. Sometimes you need a good old-school pen and pad to write. You gotta get things off your chest often. My diary has kept more secrets than my friends!
