Check Out Jason Kane’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Kane.

Jason, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out around 12 jamming and singing with my buddy’s in the garage, playing through the Texas heat for years. By 18 I went solo and would play everywhere and anywhere, at one point I remember booking shows and pretending I had a band just to get on the bill and I’d just show up with my acoustic… they were not amused. Haha. But definitely got my foot in the door. I ended up going on a few acoustic tours to California before returning to San Antonio and starting Jason Kane & The Jive with Nick Jive, I also joined San Antonio Doom band Las Cruces and did an album with them that is soon to finally be released as a tribute to our late drummer Paul Deleon who passed on this past year due to Covid.

He was a monster on the kit. Nowadays, at 24, I’m still playing every chance I get & Currently on Tour with the Jive. Also in the works of recording, the 4th Jive album with our good friend Spenser Ramzel at Black Buck recording Haus, waiting to release a few new music videos & booking more tours and out of state runs.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It never has been, especially playing rock n roll these days. And originals at that. When I first started out the singer split and I got stuck with the job and kept on singing, very rough start to say the least. Holding members was difficult. Some people wanna party and don’t realize how much work goes into a band. There was scheduling problems, money problems, drug problems, relationship problem which has always been a problem being in a band, directional problems, getting people to see the vision was a problem as well. We started when there wasn’t really any rock n roll bands in our town so most of everyone was stuck on metal or the cover band thing which there’s nothing wrong with that. Just not what I wanted with the Jive. Our latest struggle was a legal battle that lasted a year with some yahoo over the name of the band and got all our music wiped offline during lockdown which introduced us to another side of the music business. Was not fun. Everything is back on track and ready for new releases thankfully. now with Covid still around some of these venues with these new rules has been like walking a tightrope. But the show goes on!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I play guitar and sing sometimes. Besides that, I’m pretty useless, haha. I’m most proud of our latest album Soggy Noggin. I feel like we really captured what the Jive sounds like live. I think what sets us apart is we incorporate a healthy mix of different styles in our music and it makes it enjoyable to some people who normally would listen to rock.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Getting the band heard and gettin’ these songs out there is most important to me at the moment. I don’t want to say I sacrificed a lot for the band cuz it almost sounds regretful in a way but I definitely put my whole heart n soul in this project and so has everyone that has been a part of this project.
