Today we’d like to introduce you to Joel Salles.
Hi Joel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m passionate of photography since a young age. A few years ago I decided to level up my passion to business. I start to learn new technic and invest in new equipment. I first looked for landscape photography but really soon after I understand that my real passion was for portraiture. I managed to grow to a small business with a in home studio where I can realize my portraits. I’m still doing landscape and also everywhere portrait in addition to the studio.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s a smooth road, because I don’t put myself under pressure. I realize during COVID19 years that I cannot change the time and push things where they are not aligned to be done. So I’m doing my photography at my pace without pushing without exosting my energy. it’s not ideal but it’s better than having stress.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m doing portraits, familly, women man kids all kind. I can do babies portraits or business headshots. I’m looking for showing character and beauty. I’m more for classical portraiture. I like to sow sensuality in women not sexuality, something that is often mixed up. I tent to do untemporal portrait and more than anything I print inhouse my photographs. the prints are part of my package the goal there is to keep the image. I love the idea to open a box with 10 years before pictures.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love Houston for his diversity, the layback of the south.
