Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Kott.
Hi Jon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in San Antonio Texas. I guess my interest in music really started with my father. He played classical guitar and had a KILLER record collection. So, from an early age, music played a key role in my life. But, like most kids, toys, playing with friends and skateboarding and stuff like that took priority for most of my childhood. Then, around the age of 13, I finally started wanting to play the guitar and learn how to write songs. From there, it’s been one long and winding road of ups, downs, wrong turns, and some right turns. But I wouldn’t change a thing about it. This journey has made me who I am today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not a smooth road… I’ve moved all over the country pursuing my career in music. From San Antonio to Detroit to Tampa to Pensacola and finally to Houston. Played all points in between a well.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a professional musician. I specialize in live performance, but I also write and record music. My band is known for high energy live performances that keep the crowd engaged from start to finish.
What matters most to you? Why?
My family is #1 these days. Before I met my wife Leah, and we brought our son Cohen into the world, I was married to my career. I’m still extremely career driven and think I would shrivel up and die if I stopped performing live and writing music but I’ve learning how to juggle all of this and keep it together.
