Check Out Katrina Nolan’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrina Nolan

Hi Katrina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into nonprofit work began with over 10 years of volunteer service, including with organizations like The Ronald McDonald House Charities, where I saw firsthand the impact of community support. These experiences fueled my passion for giving back and shaped my vision for creating something that could amplify the work of nonprofits.

In 2024, I took a leap of faith to start A Curators Cause, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering child-focused organizations through volunteer support, curated events, and accessible resources. I wanted to create a platform that connects passionate individuals with nonprofits to create lasting change for children and families, including those with learning challenges such as dyslexia.

Though we’re just getting started, I’m inspired by the potential to grow this mission and excited to see the impact we can create together with our community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but that’s to be expected when building something meaningful. Starting A Curators Cause has been an exciting and fulfilling experience, but as we’re still in the early stages, there have been challenges. Establishing credibility and building awareness for our mission has required a lot of effort and intentional outreach.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m the founder of A Curators Cause, a new nonprofit focused on building a strong network of volunteers to support child-focused organizations. Our mission is to connect passionate people with opportunities to make a real difference, while also hosting fun and impactful fundraising events and providing resources to help nonprofits thrive.

What I’m most proud of is the vision behind A Curators Cause—bringing people together to improve the lives of kids and their families. What we’re known for is our personal, hands-on approach to helping nonprofits and our ability to create meaningful connections between volunteers and the organizations they support. What makes us stand out is our focus on collaboration and creating lasting change, one step at a time. I’m excited to see how we’ll continue to grow and make an impact!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I believe luck, good and bad, has played a role in my journey, but it’s all about how you respond to it. On the good side, I’ve been lucky to have an incredible support system-family, friends, and even strangers-who believe in my vision. Their encouragement has been a huge boost, especially when I’ve felt overwhelmed.

On the other hand, there have definitely been moments that felt like bad luck, like facing unexpected hurdles or having to figure things out as I go. But I’ve realized those moments usually come with lessons. They’ve forced me to get creative, stay determined, and sometimes just laugh, and keep it moving.

At the end of the day, I think luck is just one part of the equation. It’s what you do with it that really matters. Whether it’s good or bad, I try to take what I’m given and turn it into something positive.
