Check Out Kaye Bradley’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaye Bradley.

Hi Kaye, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, I always had a different kind of swag and style. I’m originally from Gary, IN, but always had a New York kind of vibe. I’m an artsy and creative person, and starting BlueRoc 7 in 2012 allowed me to be that. When I started, I had no clue on what I was doing as far as understanding the different types of prints and blanks. I started with 100 t-shirts, and half sold pretty quick. I was unhappy with the quality of blank t-shirts, so I quickly moved to cut n sew. This also allowed me to be more creative with not just the print but the t-shirt itself. Business was going pretty well until covid. It became hard and costly to get anything manufactured if you were a small business. Fast forward 3 years later, and we will be releasing the SS’23 collection throughout the summer. My supporters have stuck beside me through tough times, and I am truly grateful for that.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. As I stated earlier, covid brought the business to a halt. I had to do a lot of research to find manufacturers that would work with small businesses like mine. The hiatus wasn’t all bad because it allowed me to put some things into perspective and see what I was doing right and wrong with the business.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
During the day, I work in Information Technology and have done so for 23 years, and I am grateful for that because it allowed me to be able to start my clothing brand. BlueRoc 7 Clothing is my pride and joy because it’s something that I’ve watched grow from an idea to paper, to concept, to production. It’s also what I’m known for in Houston. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I’m just me. I don’t try to be like anyone else. I embrace who god made me.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important thing I’ve learned is keep reinventing yourself and never get comfortable. Also, networking will get you in places that talent alone can’t. Lastly, never give up. The moment you give up, you could have been moments away from the opportunity you were waiting for.
