Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Lowery.
Hi Kayla, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my nursing career at Memorial Hermann in the Women’s Services, but I always knew aesthetics/plastics was where I wanted to end. I’ve spent my whole nursing career empowering women in what their bodies were capable of. Now I get to empower women by getting them the desired results in what they want to look like. I had been looking for roughly 2 years to find an entry-level injecting position, but I found it incredibly hard. I happened to stumble on ReplenishMD that provides a training certification program, an apprenticeship to advance my skills, and provides their nurses with suites located across the Greater Houston area. I jumped on the opportunity, and I’m so glad I did.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Learning a whole new skill set after 5 years of Labor and Delivery presented its own set of challenges. I knew it wouldn’t be a walk in the park, but ReplenishMD has really equipped my with the tools to become skill, technical, and an artist in this industry. New skills, building clientele, marketing myself, and the fact that not one client has the same facial anatomy, desired results, or expectations have been a few of the challenges along the way. Continuing my own education and educating my clients has been my favorite challenge to date.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
A lot of people are choosing aesthetics, especially Replenish, to take control of their schedules, they want to love what they do, and they desire work-life balance. At ReplenishMD, you work as much or as little as you want to! We offer a hybrid concept, concierge, but we also get a salon suite to inject out of.
For our clients, we offer neurotoxins, fillers, PDO threads, Kybella, Sculptra, IV Therapy, Microneedling (with PRP, Hyaluronic Serum, or Radiofrequency), laser hair, Laser Genesis, IPL, BodySculpting, Semaglutide Weight loss Injections. We offer something for ANY and EVERYONE.
For nurses looking for a career change, we offer training and mentorship to get your foot in the door and build a successful aesthetic business.
One thing I am very proud of with ReplenishMD is their investment in building their providers up. The medical director is very invested in the success of his injectors.
When I inject a client, making sure they are comfortable while I’m providing their service, educated on their service and every step of the way, and happy with their results.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
With Replenish they offer mentors, so thankfully, finding a mentor wasn’t a challenge I was faced with. As far as networking, there are so many ways to go about it. It’s all about being in the right room with the right people, putting yourself out there so people know what services you provide, and educating them on the results you could provide for them. There’s so much people don’t know about the benefits the aesthetic industry can provide them, so as an injector, it’s our job to constantly educate.
