Check Out The Kiddos’story

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Kiddos’.

Hi Kiko, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The idea of making music was always present for me “Kiko” (Guitar / Vocalist) and Cesar Juarez (Keyboardist / Vocalist). We both met at Klein Forrest High School in Choir and we were always goofballs. However, were always serious about our vocal performances. Even off the stage we would exchange music, talk about our most anticipated album drops and our critiques to each other’s performances. Although I had graduated before him we always kept in touch. The idea of creating something musical came after we took a trip to his grandmother’s house in Los Angeles. That trip created the inspiration for our first couple of songs and created the motivation to what was to come. We didn’t really know a lot about music other than some theory and how to sing. At that point in time I had owned a guitar and only knew a few chords and Cesar owned a keyboard to practice his choir music. We would play “jam” in Cesar’s upstairs living room, but looking back we just made noise until we thought something was cool enough to show the others in the house. We got to the point where we wanted to expand our sound so we recruited more members a.k.a more of his family.

Joseph Riffin (Bassist) was recruited after our first show. Although that show was the most dreadful and awful experience of me and Cesar’s life we’re glad we did it so we could get Joseph in. I remember our first practice with him his dad had to guide him a little bit. Which honestly I wish he had guided all of us because we had no idea what we’re doing. As time went on we did more intimate shows and the three of us got better musically. Although still present we lost a lot of stage fright.

As for drummers, we were not lucky to find a permanent one in the begging. Drummers would quit because of work, creative differences, or they would straight up just ignore us. Luckily through our friends at “The Garden” we found Josiah David Orr. A crazy, energetic, and reliable drummer. Who also happens to be a talented producer. You can check out his skills on our latest single “APPLE TREE.

As of now, we are steadily growing our fanbase around the Houston area. Next, we plan to take over the world.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road. It seems as if our luck is against us sometimes. However we try our best to keep moving. We’ve had money issues for recording, drummers constantly leaving or being unreliable. Despite these set backs we are slowly but surely growing our fan base, our merchandise sales and our streams. We’ve had venues being very unprofessional with communicating with us. Very little show offers and sometimes little turns outs. Sometimes we are creatively drained or we are exhausted from our other jobs. Despite all these, we share a love and a bond for music. If its one person or a million people listening to our music we are happy.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a band first and foremost but we also consider ourselves a brand. Not only is our product music but also we sell shirts. We specialize in creating experiences for audiences. We want to be known for representing the creativity and brotherhood and being a large force that grew organically. We are most proud of our songs and our relations we’ve made so far.

How do you think about luck?
At times luck was not on our side. However, the few moments when we do have good luck it is most satisfying. We hope luck will be on our side moving forward.
