Hi Kris, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a second-generation born Chinese/Vietnamese American woman, youngest of four girls, and a proud native Houstonian. Growing up, I’ve always had a passion for art and believed I would pursue a career related to architecture or design. I never thought I’d end up in the medical field, let alone the aesthetic medical field.
One day, I realized pursuing a corporate desk job would not be the best fit for me. I loved engaging with other people while being active on my feet. After years of working in the hospitality industry, I gained my customer service skills and discovered my love for accommodating other people. I knew my passions and skills would translate very well in the nursing field because it fulfilled my needs to care for others and to make a meaningful impact in someone’s life.
After graduating nursing school from Sam Houston State University, I landed my first job as a bedside nurse was on the bone marrow transplant unit at the most reputable cancer research hospital in the world. My mental, emotional, and physical strength was truly tested while working full-time as an oncology nurse during the pandemic. As tough as it was, I LOVED my job and my patients. I am and will always provide compassionate care to my patients and my clients. However, the little voice in the back of my mind telling me to pursue the aesthetic field grew louder and louder.
The medical aesthetic field was the perfect way to express my artistic creativity while using medical knowledge and background. Once the pandemic subsided, I decided to take a step back from bedside nursing and jump headfirst into aesthetic nursing. My big break in the medical aesthetic field happened when I joined ReplenishMD. They truly nurtured my growth as an aesthetic nurse injector and encouraged us to promote ourselves and the wonderful work that we do. They are truly advocate for the providers who provide these treatments, meanwhile believing in providing the safest and the best results for all of our clients.
Since joining ReplenishMD, I have met so many wonderful people and learned from the best mentors. My wonderful clientele base allowed me to pursue this dream full-time and still continues to grow with each passing month. My best advice is to never give up, don’t be afraid to put yourself out there, and trust that your work will speak for itself.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am so fortunate, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity that fell into my lap. However, it was certainly a bumpy road with many ups and downs. There were many periods of self-doubt and feeling defeated when starting your own personal brand within a business. I do not portray the lavish lifestyle of an aesthetic injector seen on social media or provide dramatic unnatural results. Thus, I was uncertain if I would be accepted by my peers or gain the trust of my clients. Another struggle was learning how to be a smart businesswoman with a background mainly in bedside care.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in medical spa aesthetic services including cosmetic injectables, PRP (vampire facials and hair restoration therapy), skin resurfacing treatments, laser treatments, and IV vitamin & hydration therapy. I am well known for my cosmetic injectables services such as anti-wrinkle treatments with Botox or Dysport and dermal filler treatments such as restorative facial balancing, lip, tear-trough, nose, cheek, chin, and jawline fillers. Providing PRP therapy and IV hydration therapy are also among my most popular service requests. My customer service and thorough care sets me apart from others, my clients truly appreciate the time and patience I spend with them on each appointment, and I strive to make it a personalized experience for them.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Believe it or not, I am the worst when it comes to social media and technology! You would think a born millennial would know how to stay up to date with the ever-changing technology and trends. Social media has become such a powerful platform, so I am determined to make fun, informative posts and stay engaged with my audience.
