Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristopher Taveras
Hi Kristopher, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I picked up a camera at 11 and instantly became obsessed with YouTube, documenting my daily life. Aspiring to become a “YouTuber,” I drew inspiration from creators like Casey Neistat and Jesse Wellens. I started with short skits, which quickly became my passion.
In college, I met an artist and began shooting music videos, leading to the birth of Krispy Productions. Realizing this was my calling, I sold my prized shoe collection to fund my dream and bought my first DSLR, a Canon T7i. Fully committed, I built a name for myself in Boston as a trusted music video director in just seven months.
Faced with a tough choice between school and pursuing my passion, I chose the latter, despite doubts from those around me. At the peak of Covid-19, I moved to New York City, taking advantage of the exodus to find a place in Harlem. NYC profoundly impacted my personal and professional growth, teaching me resilience and self-awareness.
After two transformative years in NYC, I aimed for Hollywood. Now living in Los Angeles, life has never been better. Coming from humble beginnings, I owe my outlook on life to my small but supportive family. My mother and sisters taught me to smile through adversity, shaping the person I am today.
Currently, I’m involved in exciting film and media projects and have ventured into talent management/representation. In just two years, I’ve managed tours for major artists like BabyTron and BLP Kosher, navigating sold-out venues across the country. Despite knowing nothing about tour management initially, I jumped in and figured it out.
I believe there’s no rule book for life. Embrace the uncertainty and make bold decisions; you never know, it might change your life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve faced rejection, disrespect, and degradation from people I looked up to in the industry. I’ve learned that the reality of this world is vastly different from what you imagine before you enter. This is why New York was pivotal to my career. It toughened me up in a beneficial way—not by making me emotionless, but by teaching me to suppress my feelings in business. Taking things personally has been one of my biggest downfalls. I realized that nothing in this industry is personal; thinking otherwise is self-destructive. To thrive, I keep things black and white, leaving emotions out of business. I remain rational and level-headed.
Another major challenge in this industry is comparison. To overcome this, I remind myself that I can’t compare someone else’s ten years to my two years. There’s beauty in the bumps along the road; they guide you on where to steer when to brake, and when to accelerate. These challenges prepare you for the future, showing that failures are not truly bad if you adjust your perception. They are lessons that help you grow and navigate the path ahead.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The beauty of the path I chose is that I erased all limitations. I don’t confine myself to just one thing; I specialize in observation and human behavior. One of my favorite sayings is, “We can walk and chew gum at the same time.” Life is simple, and it’s we who complicate it. I’m known for being genuine—a “hate me now, love me later” type of person. I tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. It might be uncomfortable at first, but the reward down the line is unparalleled.
What sets me apart is my ability to remove every pedestal in life. I don’t speak in future tense, I don’t hope, I don’t dream—I simply do.
