Check Out Krysten Rhodes’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krysten Rhodes

Hi Krysten, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always cared about having a cute Instagram feed, but wouldn’t say I got into content creation until college. I’d say my big catalyst was being selected to be a Kendra Scott Gem at Texas A&M University beginning my junior year, and continued until graduation. From there, I was able to become better skilled at product photography and placement, pitching to brands, and even event planning! After working with Kendra Scott, I was able to work with other big brands like Samsung, Victoria’s Secret PINK, and Valentino Beauty. I even had the chance to attend special events as an influencer, like meeting Kendra Scott at her book signing in City Centre, and getting invited to eat at local restaurants. Being able to create content and community online has been so special, and now that I’m a young professional postgrad, I can see my content making an impact. My content is meant to inspire authenticity and dressing however you want, while also not taking yourself too seriously and having fun every chance you can postgrad.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A large part of my online presence includes being a sorority alumna. Being a sorority woman, and being out of college and still being active with my sorority, leaves me open to criticism a lot. Sororities are a polarizing topic, and continuing with things you did in college is also polarizing. I’ll often be judged as having ‘peaked in college,’ but the truth is, most people do, even without joining Greek life. Being able to use my (albeit relatively small) platform to show the many benefits being involved in your sorority after college has been a big passion of mine, and I can see the impact it makes when I have people let me know that they want to be as involved as me after college, or that they joined an alumnae chapter because of me. It makes me feel great in knowing I’m helping others find fulfillment in such a weird time in life, and helping build community in an age where it can be really difficult to achieve and maintain.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work full-time in clinical research, but my content creation is my hobby that most know me for! I don’t really have a niche, which means I get people from all walks of life who view my content. I’d best describe my online presence as a proud Texan who loves to explore my hometown of Houston and promote small businesses, a proud and involved sorority alumna, and a woman in stem who loves to overdress and share all the fashion, beauty and lifestyle of being a young postgrad professional. I think not having a set niche sets me apart from others, and while social media algorithms don’t appreciate it, my followers certainly do! I’ve been really proud of the lifestyle balance I’ve been able to create lately, and the content I’ve been putting out has felt so me, so seeing it succeed just reminds me to be authentically me.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I have to attribute my support system to my success. My friends, family, and people supporting my journey online along the way have all been so incredibly supportive of pursuing all my dreams, big and small. I can’t emphasize enough how great it feels to know people are in your corner wanting the best for you and helping you find opportunities.
