Check Out Lakeshia Fields’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lakeshia Fields.

Hi Lakeshia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After years of suffering from acne and hyperpigmentation, I searched extensively for products that could improve my skin and boost my confidence. A year on Accutane improved my skin temporarily, but the acne eventually returned. Working full-time as a sonographer for the past 14 years, I yearned for a change. Returning to school to become an esthetician wasn’t feasible with my busy lifestyle. Then one morning, I felt inspired to create a skincare line that had proven effective for both me and others who had tried my samples.

Recognizing my passion for skincare, I realized it was time to pursue this lifelong interest. I constantly recommend skincare solutions and have helped many people with their skin issues over the years. Combining my dedication to health and wellness with skincare and fitness, I named my brand Refined Skincare, inspired by the concept of being refined like silver, emerging better on the other side

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Creating a skincare line after dealing with skin issues myself was a struggle to begin with. My passion to provide knowledge to individuals about a good skincare regimen came with a price, because alot of people with skin issues are tired of gimmicks and investing in products that simply don’t work and leave them more frustrated and out of their hard earned money.
Building a brand with a slow growing platform hasn’t come without struggle and honestly, most of my success has come through word of mouth more than my social media post.
Dedicating time and late hours of research and praying over my brand and it’s name has been the driving force behind my desire to help as many as I can to achieve confidence through clearing their skin. Although this process has been slow at times it has also been rewarding hearing how my product has changed their lives.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have been in the medical field for over 20 years.
I started as a pharmacy technician while in school pursuing my bachelor of science degree, working in retail pharmacy helped me gain confidence and knowledge in the healthcare field.
After graduating with my bachelor’s degree I have now worked as a medical sonographer for the past 14 years. Currently serving in a high risk perinatology clinic has been incredibly rewarding and has brought so much joy being able to help physicians provide exceptional care to our patients.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I’ve always been what most would describe as soft spoken, very structured and goal oriented. As a child
I can recall my parents purchasing me a “piggy bank,” (giving my age). I was a huge saver, so much so when my parents fell on hard times when I was a kid, they borrowed from my savings which was probably only $60, but as a 10 year old in the early 90s that was a big deal.
As I continued into my early teenage era I was always a leader in my pack of friends, and I’ve always found ways to make money. I can recall me and my friends creating a “clubhouse” (which in the 90s is where kids would go to be apart of social group)during my lunch break and we charged people to come in. It was simple but very creative. As I grew into early adulthood, I became more creative and involved with in my church. My late grandfather was my pastor and allowed free reins of my creativity. I wrote short skits, poems and was very involved with the youth.
