Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Thompson.
Hi Linda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I found my true love of textiles really blossomed when I first moved to Texas. I joined The Houston Area Fiber Artists and that is where I was introduced to the art of dyeing fabrics. I was already an accomplished sewer so putting the two together was a natural expression of my love of fiber. I have been doing this since the early 1990s and have had my work shown and sold in many venues over the years. Currently, my most supportive Fiber Art Boutique is The Santa Fe Weaving Gallery in Santa Fe. They currently have a number of my latest creations.
I was awarded Best of Show at the Fort Collins Wearable Art Show in 2019. In 2020 and 2021 I was given the award for Best Body of Work in the Uncommon Threads Show in St. Charles Illinois. All 3 shows were just so exciting and very gratifying to have my work recognized in that way!
I’m always learning new ways to practice what I love, networking online with other fiber artists. One such artist is Monika Astara. I took her online course and learned new ways to create wonderful, joyful garments with fabric paint! I also attend workshops given by nationally known artists. My latest trip was to Stuart Florida to spend a week with the very famous fiber artist Doshi, learning some of her very unique techniques.
I am now putting my emphasis on expanding my customers through Instagram. Please visit me at lindas_creativecouture and take a look at my website too, lindascreativecouture.com.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think the biggest struggle for me at first was realizing that what I was creating was really good! People liked my way of making these wearable art garments!
The other has been to find the right clientele who appreciate the art and fine sewing techniques that are put into each of these garments.

Linda is an amazing artist! I have admired her work for years. It was such a surprise that she signed up for my online course (as she mentioned in the interview) – and loved it and added new techniques to her extensive repertoire.
Linda naturally and intuitively creates stunning art garments. Each piece is exquisitely finished. Above all, Linda’s styles and fabrics are a treat for the senses. They drape beautifully and flatter every body.
Having one or more of her magnificent pieces is a very affordable investment in one-of-a-kind art to wear. It is art that the collector enjoys not just on a wall with the eyes – but more importantly on the body. Wearing such art makes us happy and makes daily life brighter and more joyful.
