Today we’d like to introduce you to Loreal Hunter.
Hi Loreal, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started years ago as a love I have always had for children. Subsequently, I was inspired by model (Tyra Banks) during her America’s Next Top Model days, at the time, Tyra had a summer camp for girls, I always envisioned helping girls in some way.
I started Choose to Dream Mentorship organization in Spring of 2021. Choose to Dream is a mentorship organization to Empower girls of color. The organization is designed to build self-esteem, leadership capabilities, enhance educational enrichment, and provide essential life-learning lessons, and mentorship for children. The organization emphasizes self-love awareness, education, African American history, diversity, financial literacy, health awareness, and arts & creativity.
Prior to the Pandemic, I lived in New York City for four years. During my time there, I volunteered/mentored with a phenomenal organization (The Royalty Project) in Harlem, NY. I thoroughly enjoyed the impact and knowledge that was executed each weekend.
The vision I had years ago would suddenly spark interest again. When moving, I decided to launch Choose to Dream and give it try. We currently have four board members Misty Walters, Louretta Nickerson, Tina Smith, and Kayla Edwards. Choose to Dream would not be possible without the board members and individuals who volunteered their time and resources. I started with $500, purchasing supplies and learning tools. We currently have 15 girls in the program; Choose to Dream is fully funded from donations.
In addition to Choose to Dream, when time permits, I have an inspirational and fashion blog. My mission is to motivate and inspire people through daily inspiration and fashion.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not always been a smooth road due to not knowing how to operate an organization. I am learning and developing through the process. However, you push forward and surround yourself with positive individuals.

Just Start! You will never know what is possible until you start. God is my number 1 source; I am a firm believer to seek his guidance in all things. When you have a passion for something, allow that to lead you. My mission is to help others and make an IMPACT!
