Today we’d like to introduce you to Marhia Johnson.
Hi Marhia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey has been a story to tell, becoming a mother at age young age changed my mindset. I knew I wanted to be great for my son so I promised myself I will give him the world, no matter what it takes. I graduated from high school and college, while starting up my business. I knew I wanted to create generational wealth so why invest my time into someone else’s business, when I can do that for myself. I’ve been doing hair for 8 years now and I’m extremely proud of myself. It started as just a side hustle to being able to my main hustle, and now I’ve created residual income with my hair products by selling them online and at local beauty supply stores. Even with all I’ve accomplished at such a very young age this is just the beginning. I’m going to keep pushing forward to make my dreams become my reality.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Everything new in life can be challenging, simply because you’ve never done it before. I’ve made several mistakes but I wouldn’t change anything, my mistakes lead me to where I am today. I believe your success wouldn’t be as sweet if it was so easy to get it. Some of the struggles I had were trying to balance being a young mother and entrepreneur. I believe times were hard because I was going to college, maintaining a schedule for our son, and working 40+ hours doing hair a week. It was definitely mentally exhausting, I wanted to give up so many times. But my amazing husband was by my side supporting and letting me know that all my hard work will pay off in the end.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a hairstylist and I specialize in all protective styles, I’m most known for my realistic locs and Knotless braids. The greatest thing about my journey is I was one of the first hairstylist to do faux locs in Houston. I’ve evolved so much from when I first started up, I took a leap trying something new and it was worth it. My work speaks for itself, doing what I love has allowed me to build great relationships with my clients. I’m now focused on hosting my new event, which is called WEE CARE (Women’s Empowerment Event.) It’s set for July 30th and we’re super excited to have this event that will celebrate all women.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
