Today we’d like to introduce you to Maryjo Willsey
Hi MaryJo , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is MaryJo but lots of friends call me MJ. I was born on the south side of Chicago then raised in small farm town Ohio. My love for dance and fitness lead me to Purdue University where I obtained a double major in Nutrition Science and Kinesiology. It was at Purdue where I met my NASA bound man who took this Midwest gal to settle down in the Lone Star State 🤠
I love organizing and all things second hand. If you take a stroll through my home, you’ll see 90% isn’t store bought 😜 My heart skips a beat seeing potential in something trashed and bringing a second life to it.
Fast forward 14 years: 4 babies, 10 years working as a clinical dietitian, and 100’s of amazing trash day finds, I now have the privilege of helping families decrease clutter and stress while bringing peace and joy into their homes.
I am grateful for the Lord’s constant hand leading my path and owe everything to Him❤️
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The decision to leave my clinical job was scary in many ways. I loved my work and found so much purpose and connection where I poured my heart into helping my patients and colleagues every day. Walking away from something I truly loved was incredibly challenging and the uncertainty was overwhelming at times. There was no guarantee the business would succeed, and the fear of the unknown kept me up many nights. However, deep down, I knew I needed to take that leap, trusting that if God was leading me, it would be meaningful. The ups and downs of being a small business owner have helped me develop character in more ways imaginable and I carry the lessons and memories from my clinical experience with me every step of the way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in creating spaces that feel calm, organized, and easy to maintain. I’m known for my unique ability to not only transform physical spaces quickly and efficiently but also connect with my clients on a deeper level during the process. Just as I did with my patients in the hospital, I want my clients to feel comfortable and safe in a zero-judgement space when they are with me.
Growing up in a small farm town taught me many things, but the one I’m most proud of is work ethic. Whether it’s lifting heavy items or tackling big spaces in a short amount of time, my approach to every project is with energy and determination. My efficiency ensures that the spaces I create are not only functional, but also practical/simple to maintain in the long run. My motto is: “Once I complete a space, you’ll never need to re-hire me for that space but will want all of your other spaces done!”
What I pray sets me apart is the personal connection I make with my clients. God has given me a heart for people and often our work together turns into an opportunity for healing. As we clear away clutter, past hurts or hang ups are brought up and this can be a form of therapy in itself.
My goal is to leave my clients with spaces that bring peace and joy to their homes/offices, and I’m honored to help facilitate the process.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I spent my early years dancing ballet, tap, jazz and ballroom, and took any opportunity I had to perform! My love for dance and performance brought me to Ohio University with big dreams to make it as a New York City Rockette, but shortly after school began, I needed Achilles repair in my right foot and had to leave college all together for the semester. During that time of recovery back at home, God made my path clear: I needed to take a different way which was Purdue University studying Nutrition and Kinesiology.
