Hi Melba, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my business in 2016. After taking a 2 year break from when I took my first eyelash extension course, I decided I was going to really give running my own a business a try. Mysterious Lashes & Luxuries was created with the emphasis of enhancing “what you already have or what little of” to help women feel more confident embracing their skin with natural enhancing brows and lashes.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If I had to choose a song to title my journey it would be “Sweet Dreams.. or Beautiful Nightmare” by Beyonce. Entrepreneurship is like two sided mirror meaning your biggest struggle will be YOU. One of my biggest struggles was procrastination and coming out of a service provider only mindset.My talents and skill could only get me so far. Also learning to stay authentic to my brand and vision, despite what’s trending.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So I am a licensed eyelash extension specialist and esthetician , basically a professional beauty perfectionist. I specialize in ombre powder brows and eyelash extensions. What sets Mysterious Lashes & Luxuries apart from others is we prioritize customization. Every set is determined by your facial features, lifestyle, and goals. You won’t get an ordinary volume lash set with one curl/one length here, every part of your eye is measured and then blended with multiple curls and length to always give you that “oomph”. When it comes to brows, pigments are mixed and blended to give you a custom color, which is something my melanin girls love because we come in different shades and so should your brows.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My personality and love for people has been one of the most important parts of my success. I am a girl’s girl and treat every client as a person and not just a dollar amount. My clients know when they come to me they are safe, cared for, and prioritize. I have clients I have witnessed transition from single to married, from high school to college, to motherhood, and more. I think it’s important to remember that people don’t have to spend their money with you. I build relationships. Whether that’s for 6 months or 6 years , I want people to experience Mysterious Lashes & Luxuries and that starts with me.
