Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Tays-Hopkins
Hi Michele, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My Journey of being a jewelry designer began with my mom and also my huge supporter since day one (Norma) in 1998. I was so intrigued about how she would use wire to design. She taught me how to create my first design. And that’s how my passion started, which enabled me to create my first set using semi-precious stones.
I took a break for a few years, then, in 2011, I started designing again. One of my co-workers told me I should start a small business, so that everyone can enjoy my creations. That’s where it all began.
In 2013, Chele’s Trendi Designs was created a.k.a. CTDesigns.
I have a studio in my home, located in Pearland, TX where I spend most of my spare time since I work a full-time job. My husband is such a great supporter of mine. He has helped me with obtaining my first desk to design, which has now become many more desks and shelving. To add, my studio now has grown and what was once the dinning room, is now a great space to design and package all my orders. As well as being my studio, my clients can now come shop in person by appointment.
There is exciting news coming up for CT Designs in the next few months that I can’t wait to announce soon. So, stay tuned for that.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Good question. It’s never a smooth road when trying to accomplish your goals. I kept pushing and being faithful. The struggles usually come in finding trustworthy suppliers and doing lots of research. At times, it became hard since I work full-time and had to find time to get organized and focused. At the end it all worked out.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create trendy designs for all people using semi-precious stones from all over the world and I can also customize to my clients taste and vision.
I’m known for uniqueness on creating. When customizing, I always ask questions on the likes and inspiration from my clients. This makes the design more personal for them. And makes it special that in hopes my client will recommend my designs to others.
I believe what sets me apart from others is the quality of beads I use and findings I add to my designs, I work very hard to find the best, honest and trustworthy suppliers. And I don’t do mass production, I create two to three designs so that my clients will have the uniqueness of jewelry to add to their collection.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Passion, if you want to reach your goals, it helps to care a lot about what you’re doing. This is important to me and helps me succeed along with creativity.
