Check Out Nicole Williams’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Williams.

Nicole Williams

Hi Nicole, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I started my journey as a self-taught makeup artist back in 2016. Studied techniques and practiced on family members and friends. My technique got better over the years, so I decided to turn my passion into a business around 2019. Now I am the proud Owner of Ink3d B3auty B3ats by Nikki, with a growing clientele and still advancing in my technique.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t quite been smooth, I fully booked weeks, and I have no bookings at all… but I don’t let it discourage me. The makeup world is constantly training, so I just try my best to never stop learning and loving the art of what I do.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a self-taught makeup artist here in Houston, Texas. I am most proud of being able to keep up with other local artist as far as my talents go. Continuously building clientele and putting my name out there. Even with feeling like an underdog in the game, I’m proud that people love my work, and I have made a lot of loyal, returning clients.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The COVID-19 Crisis really showed us how important it is to love one another and not take things for granted. There have been a lot of people lost and a lot of time for people to actually sit down and figure out what they are doing or want to do with their lives… For me, things have really been about giving myself grace and not getting discouraged by trying to be like others that I think are more advanced than me.
