Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikitha Harris.
Hi Nikitha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I used to limit my cooking to my family, thinking that my skills weren’t good enough for others. But one day, I decided to create something different and share it with my neighbors. To my surprise, they loved it! The satisfaction of making someone’s day with a delicious meal sparked a new passion in me.
I began cooking for the community in my spare time. experimenting with new ingredients and refining my skills. The word quickly spread, and soon enough, people from all over the neighborhood were knocking on my door, eager to taste my creations.
Now, my cooking has become my obsession. I’m constantly searching for new recipes, studying different techniques, and brainstorming ways to bring joy to people’s lives through food. There’s something special about the way a delicious meal brings people together and creates instant connections.
In the end, my hobby turned into a passion that I’m incredibly fortunate to pursue. From a small family dinner to catering gigs and my very first cookbook. It’s all a reward in itself and has brought me more happiness than I ever would have imagined.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I can honestly say, for me, it has been a smooth road. If you understand that making mistakes are a part of the process, when they do happen, you’ll know how to handle it. When you love what you do, you do what you love.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a serial entrepreneur. I’m a SUPER mom, the author of “What We Eating Today?” cookbook, the owner of RWTG and Co Tax Company, and owner of One Rightway Express Trucking Company. But my passion is cooking. I’m at my best when I’m in the kitchen, feeding people, catering events, and fulfilling online orders for my cookbook.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
There’s one motto that I live by. “Do that ish!” I rather take a chance on myself and fail than not take the chance and never know. The biggest risk I’ve taken so far is having the audacity to even think I can write a cookbook. Facts! This project took over a year to put together. I literally cooked each recipe more than ten times to perfect it. On top of that, I spent so much time in the kitchen I didn’t have time for anything else. Then, there’s the cost for the photographer, the cost for editing and formatting, the printing cost, website development, and marketing cost. I started thinking to myself, is this something you really want to do? What if your books don’t sell? What if you don’t make your money back? I took the risk, and I’m happy I did. It was definitely worth it!
