Today we’d like to introduce you to Nithya H.
Hi Nithya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It takes a lot of grit and determination to build a dancing school catering to all age groups and dance forms. Nithya founded Bollywood Dancing Stars from her garage and has made it a popular destination for all age groups performing across Houston and beyond. She is a woman of many talents – an accomplished choreographer, dancer, radio jockey, master of ceremonies, and a director of musical plays.
Her dance drama was one of the largest productions at a South Indian Convention at the George R. Brown Convention Center in 2018. Her enthusiasm is as infectious as her smile, and her dance is captivating. Her gregarious attitude hides the steely grit and dedication that sets her apart.
As part of her accomplishments, her students have performed on over 300 stages and counting. They have also won various regional and national-level dance competitions. Nithya is the lead choreographer and instructor, training her students in semi-classical, hip-hop, folk, contemporary, and Bollywood dance styles.
I am also an emcee and I host a lot of public and private events.-
Nithya is a powerhouse emcee who brings charisma, elegance, and electrifying energy to every stage she steps onto. From high-profile celebrity events and polished corporate gatherings to vibrant traditional celebrations, grand marriages, unforgettable receptions, and dazzling Sweet 16s, she knows exactly how to own the moment. With her flawless stage presence, seamless crowd engagement, and natural ability to connect with audiences of all ages, Nithya transforms every event into an experience. Confident, dynamic, and effortlessly captivating—when Nithya Hari is on the mic, the celebration truly comes alive.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey toward any significant achievement is rarely smooth, particularly for women in the creative field. Navigating a career outside of a traditional 9-to-5 schedule often invites judgment, and as a South Asian woman, those challenges are frequently amplified.
For a long time, it has been a constant battle to balance managing a dance academy, maintaining a home, and remaining socially and emotionally available for everyone. However, I have learned to prioritize self-belief and perseverance over external noise. I have chosen to let my hard work speak for itself rather than spending energy on explanations.
I remain committed to my path and will continue to work hard and fulfill my purpose, regardless of the obstacles or criticisms that may arise.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I own and operate a vibrant dance studio while also working as a professional event coordinator and master of ceremonies for weddings, corporate galas, private parties, and community celebrations. What truly drives me is the joy of bringing people together and creating unforgettable moments. I strongly believe that no moment is ever wasted if a memory is made, and I strive to deliver experiences that help guests connect, celebrate milestones, and create lasting memories—both on and off the dance floor.
I specialize in teaching and showcasing Bollywood dance for kids, along with full-scale event planning, choreography, and hosting. From helping beginners feel confident in their very first dance to choreographing show-stopping wedding performances and leading high-energy celebrations as an MC, I handle every detail so my students and clients can fully relax and enjoy the moment.
What sets me apart is my seamless blend of professionalism, infectious enthusiasm, and genuine care for every client and student. I personalize every lesson, performance, and event to reflect individual style and personality, ensuring each experience feels meaningful and never generic. I’m known for transforming ordinary gatherings into extraordinary celebrations—where the dance floor stays packed, the energy stays high, and guests leave saying it was the most fun they’ve ever had.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the most significant lessons I have learned is the importance of staying focused on your own path and not worrying about the actions or opinions of others. It is essential to keep your circle close and remain dedicated to your own personal and professional growth.
