Hi Octavia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Houston native who has always had a niche for cooking. Cakes Out The Bando represents growth when you can start from nothing and make something. We as humans are broken people that sometimes come from an empty places, which is what (Bando) symbolizes! How we rise to the top from merely just a dollar and a dream! Rose is cut from a cloth you couldn’t stretch wide. This is a business built from love and passion. I’ve always felt that if I made it a job, I wouldn’t enjoy it as much. Due to high demand, I’ve made my way over to sales and I actually LOVE it! One of the greatest decisions I’ve made. I am honored to share with you guys not only my Elite sweets but also my Journey expressing who I am as Rose 🥀 & “The Cake Lady”… #WhoIsThisWoman?
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not! It’s be a struggle but we’ll worth it. Especially being a woman in some sort of power, people tend to be intimidated and decline help even if your willing to pay for it. Throughout this Journey, I’ve taught myself how to do as much as I could to make sure it was done the way I envisioned it. I quickly became a photographer, a videographer, a graphic designer lol just to make sure I was able to execute my vision.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am most proud of the feedback I get from my customers and the fact that regardless of what we are going through on a day-to-day basis, my customers always smile as they receive their bundt cakes! It’s always a happy moment, even if it only last for that moment!
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Yes, mentorship is very important because we don’t know it all. Also networking meeting new people. You have to be open to learner I got a new things, which takes good listening skills.
