Today we’d like to introduce you to Paloma Schell
Hi Paloma, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My photography journey began in 2008, after the birth of my first child, when I fell in love with newborn photography. Since then, I have developed innovative techniques and products that have transformed newborn photography worldwide. I pioneered the creation of the Paloma Schell Stand, one of the most widely used tools by photographers around the world to this day. Throughout my career, I have photographed over 1,000 babies and had the privilege of teaching more than 3,000 photographers in workshops, as well as speaking at over 30 international conferences in 17 countries. I’ve shared the stage with none other than Anne Geddes, the world’s pioneer of newborn photography, which was a great honor. In 2021, I moved to the United States with an extraordinary ability visa, granted for the impact and excellence of my work. I am the author of three books on newborn photography and specialize in capturing unique moments of pregnant women, newborns, and babies. I continue to reinvent myself, always offering a personalized and unique experience for each client.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been many ups and downs, and a lot of challenges along the way, especially when I decided to move to the U.S. Any major life change brings its own set of challenges, and in my case, I had a well-established studio in Brazil. When I moved, I had to start over from scratch and learn the cultural nuances and preferences of a completely new clientele. It was a steep learning curve, but looking back, I can confidently say it was the best decision I ever made. The experience pushed me to grow personally and professionally, and now I feel more connected with my clients and my work than ever before.

I specialize in newborn, maternity, and baby photography, focusing on safety and comfort to ensure a secure and relaxed experience. My deep understanding of newborn behavior allows me to create serene and natural portraits while prioritizing the well-being of each baby.
I’m most proud of my ability to provide a personalized experience for each client, adapting every session to their unique needs. My commitment to combining high safety standards with artistic vision sets my work apart and helps families create cherished memories.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as the ability to create meaningful, lasting impacts through my work while maintaining a fulfilling and balanced personal life. For me, success is not only about delivering high-quality, personalized experiences for my clients and contributing positively to the photography community but also about finding harmony between my professional and personal life.
Being able to stay close to my children and have the flexibility to be present for them during crucial moments is a significant part of my success. Additionally, I find success in my deep love for my work—when I’m so passionate about what I do that it doesn’t feel like work at all. This blend of professional achievement and personal fulfillment defines success for me.
