Hi Paola, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My small business journey started in 2020, right during COVID. This year was the hardest part of my life, I lost my mom to COVID. I could not bear the thought of doing life without my mom. I turned my grief into inspiration. In the midst of grieving i remember asking myself “what would mom want me to do next?” In that moment I just knew I had to do something. My mom was a business owner herself and I remember all the love and effort she put into her work, this is when I felt I needed to that for us, except she wouldn’t be here to witness it. As long as I started that’s all that mattered! Ailema Imperial Jewelry is in honor of my mom, it represents what life consists of. Love, gratitude, happiness, faith, and transformation. Our name Ailema, was born from my moms name Amelia. I wanted a name that represented our values and who we are.
I put my business off for some time 2021-2022, I had my son and becoming a mother changed everything about me. I gained strength and officially opened Ailema Imperial in 2024, this time I promised myself I would put all of me into it. I’m always up for a challenge and I love feeling the pressure! It helps me keep myself accountable. Everyday I’m learning, transforming into a better version of myself! Anything is possible with love, consistency, and FAITH!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been nothing but a learning experience. Becoming an entrepreneur has been a wonderful! I believe that everything I go through is teaching me something. However, I will be transparent about the struggles of balancing business and life is super real! Feeling overwhelmed because of x,y, or z and learning how to go through those emotions is such a breakthrough experience!

At Ailema Imperial Jewelry we elegantly handcraft our jewelry pieces, made from gemstones, pearls, charms, and gold plated materials made from stainless steel. My proudest moment is when I have a tent full of customers asking question or simply just wanting to know more about my brand and what we do. We also offer a charm bar, I love it so much because you get to DIY your necklace or bracelet and personalize it with your favorite charms that best represent you! What sets us apart is our dedication to crafting timeless, handcrafted pieces that blend elegance with modern trends. Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
All the amazing support I continuously receive! The smiles on my customers faces when they choose their charms and see the final result. It makes me the happiest when a previous customer finds me at a market and comes out just to shop from us. Or when a customer tells me “I came across your instagram and I had to come see you!” ..That right there is the best feeling ever!!
