Today we’d like to introduce you to Pernell Hill.
Pernell, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story would not be what it is if it had not been for loving support and guidance from the people God put in my Life. From my parents, I learned the value of God and family. From my Teachers, I learned the value of education.
From my Pastors, I was able to identify with my purpose and gifts. As I matured, I discovered I had the creative ability to write. Writing is one of the areas of my life where I find the most joy. Writing has played a major role in where I am today.
But I don’t want you to think that it was only through my ability to write, that I got to where I am today, yes, it did play a major role, but I’ve had my share of tests and trials. I believe it is through our ups and downs, we are shaped into the people we become.
My determination to be better everyday, has produced over 30 years of ministry. I am a published Author. For 8 years I’ve worked for Hope Media Group, who is known for being a leader in Christian Radio. I’ve gotten my Bachelor’s in Christian Counseling. In 2022 I plan to launch Hill & Hall a mental performance Coaching business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As I noted earlier, I’ve had my share of ups and downs. The ups are cool, it’s the downs that either make you or break you. I learned early on, never to give up.
The road has not always been smooth. I really struggled with things not happening as quickly as I would like. I also struggled with being self-critical. I realize that you can get in your own way, so I had to overcome that struggle.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work has centered around ministry. I knew early in my adulthood, this would be my career. For the past eight years, I’ve worked at KSBJ Radio, part of Hope Media Group in the Houston Metroplex. I am the Manager of Prayer Initiatives.
If you were to ask my colleagues and close friends, Who is Pernell? They would probably say “He’s the Prayer guy at KSBJ. I specialize in Prayer. I currently Supervise 6 staff members. I am the Manager of 4 key areas of Prayer.
There are a couple of things I am most proud of, being available on a daily basis to receive calls from our listeners. Secondly, I am proud of my 2019 Publishing of my book on the disciplines of prayer, called Moving At The Speed of Prayer. Prayer is certainly one of my distinguishing qualities.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Like most people, you first have to overcome your fears to take major risks. I am an idea generator. Which means, I am always thinking ahead, this is known as futuristic thinking.
The risk I take is sharing my idea or strategy with my superiors, with the hope of implementing it. Not all of my ideas are implemented, but there are some I took a risk to share, and are now being used.
My next major risk is launching a Life Coaching business. When taking Risks remember these four things.
