Today we’d like to introduce you to Rotem Asaf.
Hi Rotem, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Rotem Asaf, and I am 35 years old.
When I was a child, my parents and I shared a dream that came to life inside the walls of our family restaurant. The kitchen was always alive with the clatter of pans, the comforting aroma of spices, and the joy of people gathering around food. It was there that I discovered not only the art of cooking, but also its deeper meaning—the power to bring people together and create happiness through every dish.
From my mother, I learned the importance of bringing family close, of creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere where love is shared around the table. From my father, I learned the secrets of cooking—the flavors, the techniques, and the passion that turns simple meals into unforgettable experiences. Together, their lessons shaped who I am today.
From an early age, I knew I wanted to carry my parents’ dream forward. Cooking has never been just about preparing food for me; it has always been about love, warmth, and the joy of making others feel welcome. I have always loved to host, to serve, and to fill people with happiness through what I create. That feeling has stayed with me my entire life and continues to inspire me every single day.
Now, at 35, that passion still burns brightly within me. Every dish I prepare and every guest I welcome is my way of honoring my parents’ legacy and fulfilling the dream that began in our family restaurant during my childhood. Cooking is not only my skill—it is my story, my heritage, and the source of my greatest joy.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When my parents had to close the restaurant, it broke my heart. The closure felt like losing a piece of my childhood, a piece of our family’s shared dream. I remember the sadness deeply, because that restaurant represented not only food, but also love, connection, and purpose.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
my passion for creation in many forms—fashion design, interior design, and above all, food. I love bringing beauty, style, and warmth into everything I do, and food is the place where all these passions come together to create joy and connection.
