Today we’d like to introduce you to Royal Richmond
Hi Royal, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been a songwriter and performing artist since 2002. I was known for a very unique H-Town flow, but with real lyricism and content containing stories. Even as a “Hip-hop” artist, I still loved having that live instrument sound and country tones.
In 2025, I took on the name Royal Richmond and chose to keep giving that same lyricism and content, but now with an upbeat sound you can step around the dance floor to.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t believe there is a such thing as a smooth road. We just have to do our best to avoid the potholes and enjoy the view of the trip. I know where I’m going and why I want to go, so I’ve learned to just enjoy the journey. I’ve started completely over with a new sound, reestablishing myself as an artist. My goal is to ensure I continue to make quality music and give quality performances. So, I don’t view it as struggles, but as stages.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a recording artist that makes music to encourage people and remind them who and what, is really important in this life.
Trust God and don’t stress the BS.
I’ve released two songs this year titled, “Whiskey Night” & “Perfect for Me”.
The first single was released in January and the second in February. My latest single is releasing in March titled:
“Just Getting Started”.
Music has been a love of mine since my teens. I like all genres. Riding in a car with me, you’re going to hear everything from
S.U.C (Screwed Up Click) to STP (Stone Temple Pilots). I believe, that really shows in the songs I write.
I’ve been blessed to have written songs that have gotten national radio play and have also been able to perform live in front of crowds all over the country.
I’m excited about all the new material I have coming. The next step will be to start putting a set together and hit the road.
Not sure what you would categorize my music as, but that is something I don’t concern myself with. You can call it Country. You can call it Country-Rap. You can call it Crap for all I care. Just know whatever you label it as, I’m the best at it!
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I learned not to believe everything you’re told.
