Today we’d like to introduce you to Sammy Vasquez.
Hi Sammy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always enjoyed cameras and photography, but never really settled into being super consistent I just enjoyed the creativity it brought me. It wasn’t until I met my now fiance. That it really pushed me to level up. I wanted to help her brand and really get her to the next level so I began pushing myself to develop my photography skills and my video skills in order to assist her in the beauty space and through that I began to really open an entire new side of me that I did not know existed. Since I did not consider myself a creative person in any artistic way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. Anytime you learn a new skill in a place you’re not familiar with you will struggle. I am a guy and by all means a man in a lot of my tastes. So learning make up was not easy, but I grew to love the process as it was similar to many things I enjoy including photography. Learning to color my photography in a way that is artistic but doesn’t interrupt the make up artists work is an underrated skill. But I am grateful for it, this as it forced me to really study details that transferred to my overall skills in content creation. And have allowed to me add another layer of depth to my creativity when it comes to working to stand out and challenge some of the already excellent work that is constantly getting pumped out by so many amazing creatives.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a combination of Photography, Videography, and Content Creation. I have began to get some attention due to photographing some of my fiancés iconic glams. I am really proud of my growth so far and I think what sets me apart is the fact I have a lot of background in marketing and business system development through my career. I am able to step away from the art and analyze the business side with a different eye that helps me help others especially from a branding and marketing angle. I don’t advertise as much as I should since I enjoy having some balance and spending time with my family and a lot of my time is spent assisting my fiancé and her beauty business. Additionally I spent 10 years teaching and training Jiu Jitsu that gave me the gift of skill building over a course of months and years so I do my best to not be too hard on myself.
