Today we’d like to introduce you to Samuel Fields.
Hi Samuel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’m from Toledo, Ohio. I started creating content in 2019, after I graduated college at Ohio State University. I moved to Houston a few years ago and started connecting with other social media influencers and content creators. Houston had more networking opportunities for Black people. Started off picking up a phone doing a TikTok, and now I go around the country hosting events such as Greek step shows and picnics, homecomings, parties, etc.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not always been smooth. I go viral often, and there can be backlash and haters. There’s a lot of opinions with comedy and content creation, so people can take jokes personally. All I can do is be myself and hope the people that truly love and support me understand where my comedy creation is coming from. I wasn’t raised with old money and had to work many jobs while constantly filming skits and videos every day. You have to be very consistent, and it wasn’t always easy to keep up with my dream and life struggles. Luckily, I’m at a place now where I can benefit financially from my content and comedy.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I go around the country, hosting various events. They range from college homecomings, parties, step shows, Greek picnics to weddings and baby showers. Comedy gives me a broad range to entertain people and it helps support me as a career. I am known for d9 Greek videos since I am a Que. I make normal day-to-day interactions and relate them to the Greek and HBCU community. I am proud that I’m able to make my family proud that I’m able to make my family happy and put a smile on people’s faces.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I take risk every day. I think you have to take risk to achieve dreams, especially if you don’t come from money or support. I took a huge risk moving down here to Houston from Ohio with no job, but I knew the opportunities would withstand the financial hardship at the time. I consider myself a huge risk-taker.
