Check Out Sasser’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasser

Hi Sasser, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our journey started in 2020 when my brother Jaden (drums) and I (Gavin – vocals, guitar) formed Sasser. We spent the next two years refining our sound, and in 2022, we expanded by bringing in Aaron Williams on bass and Noah Garcia on lead guitar. Now a full four-piece, we pour our energy into indie rock, shaping our unique sound and growing our presence.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road for us. When my brother Jaden and I started Sasser in 2020, we had to figure out our sound and navigate the challenges of being a two-piece band. Things really started coming together in 2022 when we found Aaron and Noah, but even then, there were struggles—balancing music with our personal lives, booking gigs, and building a fanbase from the ground up.

There were also creative challenges, like refining our songwriting and making sure all of our influences blended into something that felt true to us. But through all the ups and downs, our passion for music kept us pushing forward. Looking back, there were definitely moments that helped solidify who we are as a band.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We’re an indie rock band known for our catchy melodies and energetic sound. One of our biggest highlights so far has been getting our songs “Insidious” and “Something New” played on 94.5 The Buzz. That was a huge moment for us.

We recorded our debut EP, Star-Crossed, right in mine and Jaden’s living room, which made the process feel even more personal and raw. It was a DIY effort, but that just added to the authenticity of the music. Every song on the EP captures who we are and the energy we bring as a band.

What really sets us apart is how close we are as a band. Since we’re all tight-knit, writing and coming up with new ideas feels natural and effortless. There’s a real chemistry when we sit down to create, and that connection translates into our music. We’re always pushing ourselves to grow, evolve, and bring something fresh to our sound.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson we’ve learned along the way is how to handle constructive criticism and communicate effectively with each other. It’s not always easy, but it’s key to our growth as a band. We’ve also had to figure out how to balance work, family life, and our music. It’s a constant juggling act, but learning to manage it all has helped us stay focused and committed.
