Check Out Sharde Hawkins Knottii Shop’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharde Hawkins Knottii Shop.

Hi Sharde Hawkins, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I taught myself how to crochet about 4 years ago. I simply wanted to make a hat. Soon I began making full outfits & sharing them online. As my work began gaining attention, I started selling my handmade clothing under my first brand name ShardeMadeit. After a few years, I felt the need for a fresh start, so I rebranded & launched Knottii Shop. February 2025, I took a big leap of faith & quit my job. I also didn’t plan on quitting my job that day!
Not long after, I had the idea to start teaching crochet lessons. What began with just a few students quickly grew, and seeing people fall in love with the craft inspired me to think even bigger. That’s when I created In Our Bag: Hand Knit Your Own Purse Workshop, where beginners can make their own chunky knit purse from start to finish. The response was incredible, and those workshops became a turning point for my business.

Since then, Knottii Shop has continued to grow, expanding beyond purse workshops to include projects like blankets, pillows, and other beginner-friendly hand-knit & crochet experiences. Looking back, it’s amazing to think it all started because I simply wanted to make one hat.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I think anyone who decides to create their own path will face obstacles along the way. For me, some of my biggest challenges have been finances, shipping delays, navigating customer satisfaction. Those experiences were not easy but they taught me lessons that I couldn’t have learned any other way. Another struggle is the reminder to myself that this is what I wanted, building a business isn’t supposed to be easy. I can let every obstacle convince me to give up or I can choose to keep pursing the dream I always wanted by learning & growing through every season.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the founder and owner of Knottii Shop, a crochet and hand knit brand based in Houston, Texas. We create handmade clothing and accessories while also hosting beginner friendly crochet and hand knit workshops throughout Texas and in cities across the country. Our mission is not only to create beautiful handmade pieces but also to inspire others to discover the joy of making something with their own hands.

I’m best known for teaching crochet and hand knitting. While I love designing and creating wearable pieces, my greatest passion is helping others build confidence through creativity and showing them that they can learn a new skill, no matter their experience level.

One of my proudest accomplishments has been expanding Knottii Shop beyond Texas. Watching the workshops grow into other cities has been incredibly rewarding and has shown me that this vision reaches far beyond my hometown.

What sets me apart is my approach to teaching. I’ve always believed teaching is a gift. It’s one thing to know a craft, but it’s another to know how to guide people with patience, encouragement, and confidence. I strive to create an experience where every student feels supported, has fun, and leaves proud of what they made. I don’t compare my journey to anyone else’s because I know no one can build Knottii Shop the way I can. I stay focused on my own path, and I believe that’s one of the biggest reasons the business continues to grow.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I love reading! I don’t necessarily gravitate toward self help or business books. My favorite genres are fantasy, fiction, & legal thrillers. Reading gives me a chance to unplug, recharge, & step into a completely different world for a while.
