Today we’d like to introduce you to Shenella Solomon.
Shenella, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a lover of candles and have a passion for making homemade products that are harmless. The idea of starting my own business became a reality to me after serving my country in the U.S. Army for 20 years. My love for aromatherapy and home fragrance inspired me to create my own line. During the pandemic in 2020 my passion inspired me to create my business to assist others with finding a way to relax and provide a calmness in their personal space. In October of 2021, I was featured on a small business spotlight with QVC and HSN.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A challenge that I face is being an introvert. When I got the opportunity to be featured as a small business spotlight on QVC & HSN for Disability Awareness month. I found it very challenging knowing that so many people would be watching the live airings. As a person who suffers from anxiety, I hope that I was able to help others to face their fears.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a disabled veteran, self-funded, minority woman-owned business, my mission is to help add a relaxing and calming experience through entrepreneurship. Our candles and wax melt are made of 100% natural soy wax that is fragrance and paraben free, making the wax environmentally friendly. They provide a clean burn and do not release harmful toxins. Our candles are also made with high-quality, phalate-free fragrance oil and infused with natural essential oils.
Our handmade scentful expression products are designed to help relax, soothe, and calm without the worry of harmful toxins. All our candles and wax melts are hand poured. Each fragrance is named after an expression, such as a word or phrase that is used to express thoughts or emotions. We strive to create products that capture the expressions through fragrance and provide that feeling when you smell the aromas.
I am most proud of watching and listening to a customer’s reaction when they smell our products and they say the expression; which is the name of the fragrance that they smell.
Our products are hand poured and made in small batches.

Keep pushing through the hard and tough times when starting your business because it can get discouraging. Be proud of all of your efforts!
