Check Out Sir Chrisjon Turner’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sir Chrisjon Turner

Hi Sir Chrisjon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had the love of music imbedded in my life since I was a young boy. I found my first love in music by playing the violin in kindergarten with my twin brother. Throughout all the years of playing (15 years) up until high school we always competed heavily against each other. The most difficult aspect of being a twin brother was figuring out what we liked individually. These are the aspects of twins that truly separate them as people. In Middle School, I thought we’d be going head to head in our orchestra’s for years to come. Until, one day I realized that he wanted it more than me. He practiced more, cared more, he was driven my it more than me. I felt no need to compete with him anymore but instead I wanted to find my true love for music because the love for competing with him was stronger than my love for the music. I knew that music was going to be a big part of my life because I’ve always felt that music was soothing, therapeutic at times, and brought so much peace to my life. One day, I decided to take a dive into DJing. Every day since then, I’ve fallen more and more in love with perfecting the craft. My DJing journey began my freshman year of college. My old high school classmate ended up going to the same college I went to and was an upperclassman when I finally made it to the Texas A&M University. There, I practiced with him, he taught me some of the basics of DJing and I took it upon myself to teach myself all their was to DJing. From music selection, to perfecting the art of smooth transitions to fulfill the needs of all musical entertainment needs for organizations on campus. I began gaining the experience and knowledge as well as the opportunity to showcase my skills at various events on campus and off campus. I then, started my own business titled “ DJ JONDOE ENTERTAINMENT”. This is where DJ JONDOE WAS BORN. This isn’t a story about your typical dj, this is a story about how a man’s love for music allowed him to do what he loves and make a living off something that never felt like work for him. Something that I can say I’d do for free if life would allow me to do so!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My father originally didn’t want me to take on the craft because he felt that it would be a distraction from school and my academics.
I had to come up with my own funding for equipment, resources and gear to ultimately teach myself the craft and also be able to service others who needed musical entertainment needs.
No one knew who I was so I had to start from the ground up trying to become relevant enough to be awarded the opportunity to showcase my skills.
I didn’t start on a campus where a lot of parties were being thrown or a lot of events that required my type of service was heavily encouraged, I had to work with organizations on campus to get their support/business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
