Today we’d like to introduce you to SP Juice.
Hi SP, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started making music as a kid, in middle school free-styling with my friends and eventually making songs on sound cloud with my friends once I reached high school. From there it was on and off through college until about 2018 when I decided to begin my mixtape series titled Juice For Breakfast. I worked on music and balanced school until I graduated. Fast forward to today where I am currently pursuing music & content creation full time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been anything but smooth to be honest. Between school, work, life and familial obligations making time for music is something that has been an obstacle. I believe that I have done a good job of releasing music consistently but that is for the fans to decide. Building up and generating hype around music and then attempting to maintain it has also been difficult. Life happens in seasons and cycles and it seems that so does the hype around my music ( lol ). I am currently in a season of trying to drum it back up after it’s been crickets for a while.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Great time for this question I am in the middle of a rebrand and identity crisis where I’m pivoting from just being an artist/rapper/singer/musician to a complete media production guy. In other words I would like to get involved with not just making and releasing music, but consultation, putting artists together, making skits and other videos etc. I am most proud of the fact that I am still making music most people I know have fallen off and given up completely but I have come to far to quit so I cannot. I will blow up or I will be homeless.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like most about my city would probably be the nightlife and the food. It is a great place for someone who is young and single to have fun. The least favorite thing about my city is that it can be stuck in its ways and rigid when it comes to the music/type of artists that it supports. But it’s ok, even if the city never loves me I will forever love the city.
