Check Out Suzanne Barnes’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Suzanne Barnes.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I began as a portrait photographer 10 years ago after I left my teaching job. After spending years photographing families, seniors, expectant moms, and newborns, I transitioned into shooting for businesses and brands 4 years ago. Since then I’ve been helping small business owners and online entrepreneurs create a professional, purposeful, and profitable online presence through photography that tells their unique brand story and graphic design that resonates with their ideal clients.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a business owner is never a smooth road, is it? One of the biggest struggles I have had is because my husband works in the oil and gas industry, and we have moved around Texas -A LOT. Photography is a pretty saturated industry, and breaking into new markets every few years proved to be difficult. But luckily, we are in the Houston area to stay, and business has never been better!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I help business owners create a professional, purposeful, and profitable online presence by strategically mapping out their client journeys and shooting imagery that tells their unique business story. When your prospective customers know you, like you, and trust you, they will buy from you, so every element of my process is designed to work towards that goal. My sessions are very in-depth, and I get to know your business as well as I know my own. After a session with me, my clients walk away with an entire library of gorgeous images for them to use on their website, social media, and printed marketing.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along the way is don’t be afraid to fail. Everyone makes mistakes. Use them as opportunities, and fail forward. Another thing I’ve learned is do what is best for you. Just because everyone is jumping on the latest and greatest social media trend doesn’t mean you have to, too. Know your business model, know yourself, and be consistent, and you will succeed.
