Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My family was pretty poor when I was a kid, so that plays a roll, you just see purpose in things. I love to take items and give them a new life. The reality of how much stuff gets thrown away is disturbing. I love to take these things and transform them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I feel like anything worth doing is going to have its rough spots! It is really important to do your homework when selecting where you are going to sell your art. The scene can be predatory. It is also important to seek spots where you are more likely to find “your people”
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an assemblage artist. I take bits and pieces to create something new. Every work i create has second hand components.
I am probably most known for my vagina art. I am truly proud of a piece i made this year called “Our Chains” it was my first interactive creation and made for some meaningful moments with women cutting their chains!
As far as what sets me apart, i am not really sure. I try not to compare myself (its hard sometimes!) to anyone else and just practice authenticity.
How do you think about luck?
Luck is just an ebb and flow. Sometimes things line up, others they don’t.
