Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Bailey.
Taylor, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Lifted with Love Inc. started in 2017 while I was in undergrad at Prairie View A&M University. My passion and love for people started at a young age. Growing up my grandmother (Momo) had her own non profit and every summer and holiday break I would go visit her and help her run her homeless shelter. We fed them 2-3 times a day and I was very hands on with her non-profit. When my Momo was too sick to run her business anymore I decided I wanted to follow her footsteps and create my own. She inspired me in so many ways and I wanted to continue to give back to the community. I modeled my organization after hers and have been working hard ever since to grow and meet the needs of the community in any way that I can.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. I was doing really good with my nonprofit and I had to take a break because grad school on top of work had become very demanding. With it being a newer organization in 2017 I hadn’t had as much help as I needed besides a few friends but they had graduated. I decided to rebrand and take a different approach in 2021 and since then things have been moving forward. Since then I have given away books scholarships, laptops, and I do a community service event each month for the homeless.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently a 1st-grade teacher and have been for 3 years now. I have a passion for education and I love watching the students grow. My endurance and hard work set me apart from others because no matter what I go through or what obstacles occur I never give up.
My heart also sets me apart from others because with everything I do it through love not expecting anything in return… and that’s where the name of my non-profit “Lifted with Love Inc.” comes from.
Aside from me being a 1st-grade teacher, I also run smaller businesses as well that include making/customizing wigs, creating clothes and artwork on canvases. My love for art keeps me going and allows me to be expressive. Through these avenues, I am able to be creative in every aspect and use that to help bring others’ designs and pictures to life.
What matters most to you? Why?
My relationship with God and my family matter the most to me. Without my support system, I wouldn’t have made it this far. They have helped pushed me, and keep me encouraged through tough times. They have also been good examples of leaders and I strive to be just as good as them one day.
