Today we’d like to introduce you to Trinity Vaughn.
Hi Trinity, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Originally born in Indianapolis IN. I moved to Houston at the young age of 4 years old. Throughout my growing years, I would go back home to Indy for the summers to visit with my Daddy & other relatives. When my Daddy was at work I would spend most of my time around my cousins. Freestyling & making up songs on the porch at my Grandma’s house is a core memory for me and is what solidified my talent today. Every time my cousin’s boyfriend would see me, he’d ask me to freestyle to him for a chocolate bar. This all caused me to start writing songs at a young age, which I still do. As I’ve gotten older & my interest changed, I got into sports which took up all of my time. Music was never something I wanted to take seriously, I had other visions set for myself. I remember lying on the floor by my speaker & writing a song after practice one day, downloading an app on my phone to create a song and successfully making it. I sent it out to a group of my friends for feedback & they loved it. A group of my close friends made a video of them dancing to it after football practice. My friends and family would request me to play it all the time when they were around me and would make their own videos dancing to it. At my graduation, I did a mini performance and all of my family & friends knew the lyrics WORD FOR WORD! Since then, I’ve been strongly encouraged to pursue a music career by those close to me & even strangers. Since that first song in 2020, I’ve professionally released 7 songs, 3 features, 4 music videos and will release my most recent single on 1/14/25 and my 1st ever EP in February. I’m extremely grateful for my village’s support & everything I’ve been through that’s molded me into the Woman I am today.,,Trin’cetta.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing comes easy & me expecting it to has been my toughest battle. Having to plan, prep and bring a vision to life isn’t easy to do, especially without a professional team. I do just about everything on my own as far as funding my video shoots, photoshoots & studio sessions. Imagine putting a great amount of time, money & effort into something your passionate about & only getting so much back. My support system is unmatched but sometimes it does get quiet. Not every move you make will get consistent support and that’s where things took a toll on me. In the beginning of me starting music, it seemed as if my music was getting a lot more attention, feedback and support…but the more consistent you are, the less support you receive…in a way. There has been many moments when I’ve had to pick myself up and support myself because not many did. Not getting the recognition that you know deserve is a helpless feeling. It leaves you with an empty uninspired feeling. Truly makes you question if what your doing is even for you. Eventually, I had to come to a realization that as long as I stay consistent and believe in my craft, the rest is bound to come & find it’s way to me. When you know personally, how much talent you hold…You’ll truly begin to overlook everything else that doesn’t feed your artistry. A good friend of mine makes music as well. We began making music around the same time…if it had not been for us coaching each other throughout this process, I can only imagine how much harder things would’ve been! All in all, we’ve overcame the self-doubt & fears of being overlooked.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Young Rising Artist. I typically specialize most in rap music but as I’ve progressed, I’ve become more open & versatile with my music. I’m working on incorporating R&B music, Soul music & even Rock music into my more of my sessions. I’m known for a couple of reasons, I used to dance a lot at pep rally’s in middle school & in high school & I did a few sports activities.. Fast forward to today, I’ve made an even larger name for myself just off music in itself. I’m beyond proud of myself for not letting any negativity delay any of the plans I’ve set for myself. I’m proud of how much time & effort I’ve invested into my craft while still balancing my personal life as well. What sets me apart from others is my authenticity. Music is natural for me, freestyling has always been fun & easy to me. This wasn’t something I had to seriously lock in & practice, I’ve always had it naturally! It took me to listen to the people around me to realize that.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
As far as Houston, I love the southern hospitality. The way strangers show love! I love the culture, the music, diversity & how fast paced it is. I’m not a fan of the traffic or the huge insects the heat brings out. I wish everybody supported each other more but I’m certain that’s an issue every city struggles with.
