Today we’d like to introduce you to Velma Basile
Velma, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started doing hair about seven years ago, right after graduating high school. It began as a job for me to have during college. I loved the flexibility of doing hair and it allowed me to obtain my undergraduate degree. Over the four years I spent in college, I fell in love with doing hair. Now, I am a full time stylist and I couldn’t be any happier.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Covid made this industry really difficult and it was hard not being able to work for months. Finding the right salon is also a challenge and I feel very fortunate to have landed at Salon Renew. All of the ladies I work with are amazing and so encouraging.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My favorite thing to do is color! The majority of my clients get color/blonding services. It’s such an amazing way to transform someone’s hair and make them feel like the best version of themselves. I have also always loved science and doing color really scratches the science itch I have
