Christopher Robles shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Christopher, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
I think I felt the most loved when I was with my ex, she’s the inspiration behind my whole “ i wish i could sing “ Project! It was very hard to believe I deserved it, I struggle with a bunch of overthinking and impostor syndrome so i’m constantly eating myself alive.
Till this day I wish I didn’t make a excuse to leave but what can you do.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello again! I’m Chris or differentchris, at the time of this article I am 22 years old; Houston TX native. I’m a singer/songwriter have been doing it since I was 13 years old and it’s all i’ve ever known.
There’s nothing too crazy or significant about my sound or even me. I’m a pretty simple guy, I try to experiment all the time with different sounds and so many cool collabs. I just think music is super super cool, it’s so intimate but so broad, to a point where anyone and everyone can differentiate and connect personally to the music no matter who you are.
I’ve never been confident in myself musically. I don’t know any instruments sadly, but it’s definitely something I want to learn in the future! But I like to treat my penmanship as my instrument, so everyday I try to learn, read, and practice in forms of poetry.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents.
I love them so so much. They made me who I am today. Being the son of a first generation parent is so important and impacting to me, cause my dad allows me to pursue anything I want to do with no judgment or no punishment and that’s something I never take for granted!
My mom is one of my rocks in this lifetime. She taught me so much about perseverance and making sure i’m grounded and taking my time with everything. While also being that motherly figure I need whenever it is needed.
They both taught me so so much, I can talk about them for hours but it’ll take up so much time!
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It’s okay to not know! Like it’s literally okay to not know anything. Life has a path, the universe is so weird and extreme where as soon as you were born your path was already laid for you, you just have to follow it.
It’s okay to be sad and not comfortable, that’s normal. Just enjoy your surroundings and love yourself a little bit more!
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I would say a good foundation, i’m
super big on who I have around me and who can be transparent and honest towards me. I just want to put out the best art that I can and i’m very open to constructive criticism/feedback.
Very grateful to be around talented and genuine people. So without them whole heartedly I would be nothing.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What will you regret not doing?
Not falling in love sooner I feel like. I’m just so obsessed with perfecting my craft, that I hate myself if I don’t prioritize music.
I missed out on so many wonderful people from my careless mistakes or just feeling like i’m losing myself. Love is scary to me, it make me so vulnerable and warm, but I just want to focus on what I have going on right now.
