Community Highlights: Meet Adrian Jimenez of Key Payment Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Jimenez.

Hi Adrian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was completely new when I ventured into the credit card processing industry. I was not an expert in the business, but told myself this: “an expert was once a beginner.” There have been so many early mornings and late nights where I doubted myself being an entrepreneur. I would ask myself, “Am I going to be successful?” “How will I make it?” – Just the emotional rollercoaster that came with self-doubt. The biggest motivator I have used in my professional career is failure. I asked myself, “What did I fail at today?” “How could I have made today better?” If I am not trying, then I am failing. One of the biggest advantages I had was that many who enter the merchant services industry will quit during the journey, and that was my advantage.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The work has never been a smooth road and just like other industries it comes with its own challenges. The challenges were not easy to overcome. It was very difficult because I didn’t know how to talk to business owners; what to say and how to say it with confidence. I knew that my biggest strengths were my experience in sales, I am a very approachable person and I went full force into what I knew.

The lesson I’ve learned is to listen to your prospective clients. Understanding their business’ needs, because each business is unique. Take notes, build a rapport, make an effort to care, remain consistent. Building Key Payment Solutions was not an easy task and I had to earn my credibility and the trust of my new and existing clients while providing “respect, trust, and low rates.” Building my presence in the industry, defining my target market and then, go after it. I have built K.E.Y around what it stands for, “Knowledge Empowers You,” and educating my clients by staying in the know about the credit card processing industry and how it is evolving consistently.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We provide business owners with the ability to accept electronic payments (Card and Check) for their merchandise and services by offering card/check authorization, data capture, settlement, risk management, fraud detection, and merchant customer assistance, and POS (Point of Sale) technical support.

Our management’s experience and extensive knowledge in providing electronic payment processing services to merchants give us the ability to effectively identify, evaluate and manage the payment processing needs and risks that are unique to every business (small or large) today. In addition, leverage the necessary security and compliance controls, which are critical to merchants now more than ever before.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The industry is always evolving and I see it going more digital as it shifts into cryptocurrency as payment acceptance.
