Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Gonzalez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a personal injury attorney based in Houston, Texas but I was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. Growing up along the border had a profound impact on me–it influenced my values, my sense of right and wrong, and instilled a deep love and respect for my culture. After college, I attended law school at South Texas College of Law Houston. After graduating and passing the bar exam, I began to work in Houston, primarily defending personal injury cases (the opposite of what I do today). It took me a while to admit it to myself, but at the time I wasn’t feeling satisfied or enjoying the work I was doing. So after some serious thought, I made a career switch and began representing people injured in accidents, not fight against them. Then after twelve years of working at other people’s firms, I made the bold decision to open up my own law firm, Gonzalez Injury Lawyers PLLC.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My career journey to eventually opening up my own law firm was an uphill climb. But, honestly, I don’t think I would change any part of it. On top of the million tasks that come with opening your own law firm, in my career I’ve faced learning setbacks, failures, overwhelming stress and anxiety, imposter’s syndrome, and so on. And even though it hasn’t always been pretty, I’ve persisted. I think that’s reason why I am where I am today, because I’ve persisted. Even if it was a slow crawl at times, I kept moving forward. That’s really what it boils down to–persistence and determination in the face of difficulties.

Gonzalez Injury Lawyers PLLC is a law firm dedicated to one thing–helping injured Texans. What makes you happy?
Honestly, I’m happiest and most fulfilled when I’m being of service to others. Naturally, my work as an attorney makes me happy as we help our clients every day but I also love helping my friends succeed and seeing them winning. I enjoy mentoring younger lawyers and law students because I want to pay back the help that I received along the way. All of that just fills my heart.
