Hi Alexandra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I had imposter syndrome even before I began taking pictures for clients, but one day I ran an ad using pictures I’ve only taken of family and someone trusted me with their wedding! I dove in into further sharpening my knowledge and skills using my camera, upgrading equipment and combined my love for website content creation and wedding photography. Brick by brick I built a website I was proud of and word-of-mouth referrals started coming in!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Wedding photography is a saturated market here in Houston, but I kept going. I wasn’t just doing it for the money, I genuinely love what I do behind a camera, editing, and delivering the finished product for families to love and cherish.

A Montoya Photography offers photography and videography services primarily for weddings and families in the Cypress/ Hockley area. I primarily shoot and edit photo and video content myself with a team of associate shooters and assistants. No family and wedding is the same, I listen to my families and wedding couples’ wants and needs to personalize their galleries and heirlooms. My brand revolves authenticity and personal relationships. I’ve gotten very lucky with brides and families that choose me! Also, we travel internationally, so if anyone is looking to elope in Italy, I’m your girlll!
What matters most to you? Why?
A happy client that feels seen with my pictures of them. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes to relax in front of the camera, sometimes it takes 30 minutes and that’s ok! Everyone is different and that is why I practice getting to know my clients!
