Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexia.
Hi Alexia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started with a simple goal — to create products that feel good, do good, and are made with love for both people and the planet. What began as a personal passion for clean, eco-friendly living soon grew into Hello Sweet & Gentle, my small business built around sustainability, self-care, and community.
Honestly, a lot of my inspiration came from scrolling on Pinterest and TikTok. I loved seeing all the creative small businesses, packaging ideas, and the freedom that came with being your own boss. It made me realize that I wanted that life for myself — to build something meaningful from the ground up and to do it my way.
In the beginning, I was hand-pouring soy wax melts in my kitchen, experimenting with natural ingredients, recyclable packaging, and gentle scents. Over time, I expanded into room sprays, lip balms, and other everyday essentials — all designed to be kind to the earth and to those who use them.
My journey hasn’t just been about building a brand; it’s been about learning, growing, and creating something meaningful that aligns with my values. Today, I continue to expand thoughtfully, collaborating with family, exploring new eco-friendly product ideas, and staying true to the mission that started it all: spreading kindness through sustainable living.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all — there were definitely challenges along the way. One of my biggest struggles came with my very first batch of wax melts. I remember how excited I was, but when I made them, they ended up having a really light scent. When I received feedback from customers saying the scent wasn’t strong enough, it honestly bothered me — I wanted my products to be perfect.
So, I went back to the drawing board. I retested, adjusted my formula, and experimented with different curing times until I got it right. I started with just one scent, focusing on getting that perfect balance, and slowly began adding more as I improved.
Now, I’m proud to say my wax melts have a stronger, cleaner scent throw and truly reflect the quality I was aiming for. Wax melts were my very first product — the one that taught me patience, trial and error, and how much love goes into building something from scratch.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about hellosweetandgentle ?
Hello Sweet & Gentle is all about creating simple, eco-friendly products that bring comfort and positivity into people’s homes. I handcraft everything with care — from soy wax melts and room sprays to unscented tealights and lip balms — using clean, cruelty-free, and sustainable ingredients. My goal is to help people enjoy everyday essentials that feel good, smell good, and are kind to the planet.
What sets my brand apart is the heart and intention behind it. Every product is made in small batches with attention to detail — from the natural ingredients I use to the eco-conscious packaging I choose. I want people to experience something that feels thoughtful and personal, not mass-produced.
I’m most proud of how Hello Sweet & Gentle continues to grow while staying true to its roots — eco-friendly, handmade, and built with love. Each product carries a story of care, patience, and purpose.
For anyone discovering my brand, I want them to know that Hello Sweet & Gentle is more than just a business — it’s a reflection of self-care, sustainability, and creativity. Everything I make is meant to bring a little calm, warmth, and kindness into your space.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Starting Hello Sweet & Gentle was one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken. I didn’t come from a background in business or product making — I just had a vision, a lot of research, and a strong belief that I could create something meaningful. I had to invest my own time, money, and energy into something that wasn’t guaranteed to work, but I knew I’d regret it if I never tried.
To me, risk-taking isn’t about being fearless — it’s about believing in yourself enough to move forward even when things are uncertain. When I launched my first batch of wax melts and things didn’t go as planned, it was scary. But instead of giving up, I used that experience to learn, improve, and grow stronger as a creator and business owner.
Every step in this journey — whether it’s testing new scents, investing in materials, or putting myself out there online — involves some kind of risk. But I see it as part of growth. Without risk, there’s no reward, and sometimes the biggest lessons and opportunities come from the moments that feel the most uncertain.
