Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisha Hicks.
Alisha Hicks
Hi Alisha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
As a mother with a passion for raising my family strong, I constantly dug deeper into learning about everything that could harm us in my quest to live free. My career was in Herbalism; however, I quickly found my place was to be deeper than just herbs. I dove into learning other healing modalities, such as Ayurveda and Nutrition, where I have the privilege of helping others live a well & balanced life using herbs & foods according to a person’s genetics (dosha). Studied Cannabis use and American Indian medicine as well as Chinese Medicine and SRT therapy, which is subconscious release to allow healing from trauma that is manifesting illness in the body. Yoga in many different forms, along with mindset and breathwork.
Using Reiki & AO technology, we can also include energy healing into a plan to custom create for each client. It is a privilege to be able to help so many in our community care for their own bodies the way God intended with gifts of the earth. We have enjoyed many speaking events that allowed us to share knowledge and education; those are always much appreciated.
In 2021 our first book was published, “The Wellness Guide” for Body+Mind+Enviroment, covering self-care, herbal knowledge, and nutrition to aid in a self-help journey. Since we have published many other series, including ‘The Subconscious Mind’, Parasite & Candida Protocols, ‘Yoga & Meditate’ as well as many nutritional programs. We have made these programs available in virtual form on our website as well as print.
My goal is to become a well-rounded Holistic Practitioner that can aid a person’s health with many different options. Understanding holistic medicine from many different cultures aids in comparison of how each culture uses and views different herbs or therapies. Holistic healing is an ever-changing practice with new discoveries or viruses being born. I love learning and growing each day to provide the best that I can offer.
We have grown from providing herbs out of our home in The Woodlands Tx when I started in 2018 while attending school to now growing herbs on our land in Montgomery County, Texas, producing high-quality products, and opening a full-time office to serve our community with Holistic medicine. I have grown my team to include family members that share my love for what we offer. It has been a blessing to build Heritage Havens as a family business.
Over the years, we have built relationships with some amazing fellow holistic-minded professionals. This has given us an ability to offer vetted resources to our clients that may need services that we cannot provide. Along with building a local community, we have been privileged to join the ‘Complimentary Medicine Association’ and the ‘American Herbalist Guild’.
None of this growth would have been possible without the continued support of all our wonderful clients that have become our friends and family.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road all along this journey. Being a holistic practitioner versed in cultural medicine has opened us up into a world of other religions. We are very much Christian based. It takes navigating with a gentle touch and strong morals to not become miss identified.
The intro to our 2021 book “The Wellness Guide” states – “It is important for me to be 100% transparent with my clients because energy and herbal use can be misconstrued and morphed into something it was never intended to be. I am a Christian energy healer. So how do I believe in a quantum field of energy and healing yet still believe in God? Because I believe that God is the quantum field. He is the energy of creation; the bible cites that he “breathed life” into us, that he created us in his image (we are all energy). Also states that he is always with us. Well, guess what? We exist in a quantum field of energy… always! The Bible is also full of miracles, things that no one can explain. While scientists are forever trying to figure out how healing in the quantum field is happening, yet since Einstein have not been able to pin down the definitive answer. Einstein said “the future of medicine is frequency”, even though he spent much of his life against the theory of the quantum field… but with his discovery of the speed of light he had to acknowledge the quantum field. So, didn’t God also state, “I am the way the truth, and the LIGHT”? His unexplainable miracles are because he is the energy, so he knew and understood how to use energy that we are still trying to figure out. Faith like a child is another statement; it was what he asks of us to be able to receive from him. So even without a scientific no refusal proof of God and the Quantum field, I choose to believe. And I have seen and felt the benefit of that belief. I also believe that science will never be able to prove it because then how are we having “faith like a child”?
There are so many gifts in this world He left for us to use, just the same as he created the circle of life; he created support and healing for that circle to ensure its survival. Not all of those gifts are in plain sight… some must be sought after by faith!”
Different cultures have discovered different therapies and techniques. Adding their own twist and relation to their religion. At the end of the day and much studying of different cultures healing modalities, it all boils down to God the Father Jesus Christ who is the creator of this miraculous world. I truly believe that if you put God at the center of your healing, he would want you to use the gifts he created for us here just the same as he created us, no matter who discovered them. – I say that on the condition that the healing modality is not of a darkness, a stigma, or a spiritual realm that does not agree with the teachings of the bible.
We’ve been impressed with Heritage Havens, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Heritage Haven’s Practitioner, Alisha Hicks is a certified Ayurvedic Nutritionist, and Herbalist registered through the American Herbalist Guild. Licensed SRT Practitioner and registered Holistic Practitioner with the Complementary Medicine Association. As founder of Heritage Havens, Alisha’s goal is to share knowledge, experience, and education to aid the community in improving quality of life and decreasing the amount of illness in American culture.
Known in the community as a resource for herbal mixtures in many forms as well as custom creations based off request or specific need. Our specialty is finding the root cause of what ails you through a detailed intake, testing, and interview process. We then go to work building a plan for you to reverse your illness and bring you back to balance for optimal health. We employ nutrition, energy & frequency, herbal support, yoga, and mindset in your custom plan.
We are set apart from others in multiple ways. Not only do we provide you with the tools you need, but we aid you in learning to garden or generate the tools for you to continue your journey for life. This is not about making you dependent on our services; we want everyone that leaves Heritage Havens confident in their new way of life, knowing how to provide for themselves and others so that holistic knowledge continues to grow.
Our most popular brand item is a tie; we have a Pink Lady tea and an Herbal Dreams tea that equally are hard to keep on the shelf. The Pink Lady tea is a combination of Hibiscus, Rose petals, Red Raspberry, and Peach. This blend was crafted by request for the Mary Kay Christmas Party two years ago… It was a huge hit with its naturally sweet flavor and beautiful pink coloring with a floral aroma. The Herbal Dream is a blend we crafted of passionflower, lavender, valerian root, and many other sweet or sedative herbs that slowly eases our clients into a restful sleep without any highs or lows that disrupts a true deep slumber.
The important takeaway I could give you about our brand is that quality is never compromised. If we do not grow the herb, we will source it from another qualified organic, clean producer. When you enjoy our herbal creations, you know that you are getting the best form of the herb possible. Same goes for our services; we will always give you dedication and honesty. Every client becomes a part of the Heritage Havens family. If by chance we cannot help you, we will stay with you until we get you into the hands we trust to take over.
What were you like growing up?
Well, my mother would say hardheaded while my dad would say hard working. Both would say that I have always had a soft heart. We grew up with a mixture of environments. The first 9 years of my life my 3 sisters and I enjoyed playing on a ranch my father worked that doubled as a rock ranch to running around with all the calves on dairies with my grandfather. I think a large part of my determination comes from my dad. He was a survivalist who loved his years in the forestry service, sharing our Cherokee heritage with us and raising cattle. I would say one of his biggest accomplishments was crafting the sphere for the Hubble telescope before he moved our family to the last frontier, Alaska, to follow his dream of homesteading. We played in the dirt, nursed farm animals to health, milked cows, ran the fields, and knew more than most kids about every kind of rock and resource in the woods to survive. This included herbal remedies. I think this bred my passion today for learning and keeping alive traditional ways. My mom taught us how to listen to our heart and hold our morals strong. That at the end of every day, we are thankful and include our gratefulness in our prayers. She taught us to be calm in the storm and that you can survive anything if you believe. She was always firm that God was on our side if we kept our hearts pure and strong. Family is very important to me and always has been. A day at a Creekside with laughter, loved ones and peach cobbler out of a Dutch oven is the perfect day for me. And that, my friends is one of the best medicines – people have become so wrapped up in status and materialism that our lives get overwhelmed with expectation, perfectionism, and anxiety that open the door for illness to manifest. If I could teach every person one thing, it would be to get outside and laugh with one another, creating memories that warm the heart.
At the end of the day, we hope to keep growing in our community as well as nationwide to serve others in the many holistic healing modalities with education and coaching. Consults are complimentary virtual or in person and can be booked on our website.
