Community Highlights: Meet Allie Ware of Sweet P Steam

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allie Ware.

Hi Allie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always struggled with cycle being extremely painful, heavy bleeding, couldn’t eat, etc. I was basically bedridden during that time. My OBGYN put me on birth control at a very young age & basically told me that was my best bet! Fast forward 10yrs later I became an adult did my own research & decided I wanted to get off birth control. Once I did that my cycles came back BUT with a vengeance. I ended up going back to my OBGYN (the same Dr that put me on birth control & know my history) asked can something be done. They did testing & couldn’t find anything wrong & also said that he was 99% sure I didn’t have endometriosis. I ended up calling & asking if I could get a Dr’s note for my job since I would be missing work; I was told verbatim “Yes If I treat you for endometriosis”. I was floored because he had just told me he was sure I didn’t have endometriosis & also explained that he didn’t want to treat for it because the treatment was either a hysterectomy or high doses & invasive procedure of birth control. I started doing my own research on holistic methods for menstrual cycles specifically & came across yoni steaming. During my journey of healing my womb through yoni steaming, I constantly thought about how many women are walking around either sterile or going in circles with their doctor about their womb health which if we are being honest society doesn’t give a damn about women’s womb health especially black & brown women. I want to bring awareness & educate women on a holistic method to healing so our wombs can start healing properly & that way we can teach the generations after us what we know

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I would say it has been a learning road; not smooth but not bad either. It has been a journey because yoni steaming makes you connect with your body & actually learn your body which in return for women, we learn ourselves. You start realizing that womb health & mental health goes hand & hand. It hasn’t been an overnight fix & something I’ve had to be consistent & have patience with. My cycles have went through so many changes, but it’s a lot better. I went from 7 days extremely heavy bleeding all 7 days, hurdled over in pain, not eating, vomiting, etc. to now I’m down to 4 days; 3 are light 1 is medium. I’m eating, able to move around, & I drink my Juicy Fruit tea when I feel discomfort from cramping.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Sweet P Steam offers 4 different steam blends to women; Healing P is the most cleansing, detoxing, clearing blend; Womb P will help to restore your womb & bring harmony between you & your womb; Dive in P will increase sensuality, purify your womb, & increase sex drive, All Night is for those who are new to steaming & want to get a little bit of everything in one blend. Our goal is mission is to get women comfortable about talking about our wombs & yoni. We have been condition to think that it’s something you don’t talk about & don’t bring up. So many women are so uncomfortable with their yoni; they don’t look at it, touch it, or even get in tune with it & IT YOURS you literally walk around with your yoni every day. Our yoni’s/wombs are what makes us woman & set us apart we literally hold & carry life how can we not talk about it, be comfortable with it, & embrace it? I also want to get rid of the stigma that just because you have had a hysterectomy you no longer have a womb that’s absurd, you’re still a woman & have a womb that needs to be taken care of.

Our wombs shouldn’t be experiments & something that we have no control over. We have to take our power back with our wombs & that starts with education, be comfortable, & being confident being a woman.

We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
I am a big risk taker. I feel like if you never take risk, you will always be stuck in a box & ultimately never really live. I’ll say the biggest risk I’ve taken so far is moving from St. Louis, Mo to Houston, TX, quit my 9-5 & went hard with my business & educating women. The biggest reward I’ve gotten is educating women & talking to women hearing their stories; it’s so refreshing.
