Community Highlights: Meet Annie Davis of Annie Bea Soapery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annie Davis

Annie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2015 I made my first batch of melt and pour soap as a fun activity I came across online. It was too easy and left me craving more gratification so I excitedly went down the rabbit hole of the raw ingredients and how to make true soap from scratch. I haven’t looked back since. The science and art marries beautifully and today I gratefully get to share it in stores, at markets, and even ship. All with my young daughter learning, working, and growing right alongside me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, not smooth at all. Ha! The more I work it, the better the company does, naturally but, as a small business owner you have to find ways to make it work simultaneously with the rest of your full plate. Finding space for everything, time, the demands of social media presence; wearing all the hats while being a single mother who still has another full time job. I like to think I’ve gotten better but, one of the other blessings of running your own operation is the personal growth that comes from it. You lean in, you stumble your way through, come up for air, regroup, repeat with sharper skills.

We’ve been impressed with Annie Bea Soapery, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Annie Bea Soapery makes high-quality, handmade silk & tallow goat milk soap and personal care products. Everything used from the packaging, to ingredient, to font shade has been poured into. Created to nurture, inspired by nature, crafted in East Texas – every bar is designed to bring health and joy. You can even plant the labels! Making these products myself is important to me. Having my daughter involved is important to me. Bea is what we called my grandmother and I even have named our bestsellers after beloved family members. It all has meaning. I feel that the more heart I put into it, the more heart my customers receive. Everything I’ve made has from scratch. Everything has received so many hours of meticulous thought and consideration. The ingredients are high-standard throughout and we utilize local resources as much as possible. I want my customers having peace in knowing they’ve been given the best because that’s what they deserve. Life is short, let it be beautiful and enjoy it!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is playing in the woods with my dog and discovering all the cool things outdoors. Bugs, plants, a 7Up bottle without a dot! And when he didn’t want me walking anymore, he’d come sit on my feet. He was a great adventure buddy.
