Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Willis.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Putting on clothes is not just a mandatory thing but can be a source of empowerment. You ever put on an outfit and felt like you was ready to take on the world because you KNOW you look good that day? Well, that’s what I want to do for people through my boutique. I’m not just selling clothes because it’s something to do. I am a full-time teacher with a house full of my own children.
Trust me, I could find something else to do with any free time I can find, however, it gives me great joy to pick out pieces and to see women wearing those pieces. To know I’m apart of their process of empowering themselves or lifting themselves up through their wardrobe. I started this business about a year ago. I’m nowhere near where I want to be, but I will get there. I hope to be in a financial space one day where I really can make the type of purchases necessary to build my brand the way I envisioned it. To be able to hear people say they love the hand-selected pieces from Intrigued Stylez. It’s not easy starting a business with close to nothing, but I’m definitely going to keep pushing until something happens.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Money is definitely a struggle for me. I use what little I have after taking care of home to put towards my business. I don’t have tons of money laying around or a business loan to utilize. The money I use towards Intrigued Stylez comes from me. That’s how much I believe in my boutique. I remain prayful in that one day, I will somehow come across the financial means to be truly successful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Intrigued Stylez?
Intrigued Stylez is a clothing boutique for woman. My goal for Intrigued Stylez is to service a wide variety of women in the clothing department. I want to be able to style petite women, plus size women, young women, mature women, working women, etc. My goal is to be able to hand-select items I know will make women feel uplifted no matter what lane they are in. As I stated before, I have not reached that goal yet due to finances, but I will one day be successful.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
No, at the moment, I must admit I have not made time for any of those things, however this summer, after school ends, will be my summer of learning to further my brand.
