Today we’d like to introduce you to Bayo Adebogun.
Hi Bayo, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey by leading the Lagos Beautification Project, which taught me valuable lessons in large-scale project management and strategic planning. This experience inspired me to transition into the healthcare and technology sectors, where I specialized in helping companies growth through ERP integrations and cloud transformations. Over the past decade, I’ve developed unique skills in the healthcare and technology sectors, leading global teams to optimize ERP platforms and achieve significant improvements in operational efficiency and cost savings. A key highlight was launching Microsoft Azure in Japan during the pandemic, a challenging but rewarding experience.
Today, as CEO of VortEdge, I’m focused on driving digital transformation and empowering businesses. I’m also passionate about youth empowerment and education, blending professional success with meaningful community impact.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has been anything but smooth. As an immigrant, I faced significant culture shock when I first arrived in America. Everything from the way people interacted to the education system was different from what I was used to, making it a challenge to adjust to my new environment.
Financial difficulties were a constant struggle, especially when it came to attending college. As an immigrant, I didn’t have the financial support systems that many others take for granted. To make ends meet, I had to work multiple jobs while pursuing my studies, juggling long hours just to cover tuition and living expenses. This left little time for rest or social activities, contributing to a sense of isolation. The absence of a social support system made the experience even more daunting. I had to learn to rely on myself, find new ways to connect with people, and gradually build a new life from the ground up.
Despite these struggles, each challenge taught me resilience and adaptability, shaping me into the person I am today. The difficulties I faced have made my achievements all the more meaningful, reminding me that the road to success is often paved with obstacles that must be overcome.

As the CEO of VortEdge, I lead organizations through digital transformations, specializing in building advanced digital infrastructure and securing access to capital. My current focus is on empowering the next generation by leveraging my global MBA network to connect with business and technology experts. Together, we create engaging and accessible content designed to bridge the knowledge gap, particularly in minority and underserved communities. Our mission is to equip young people with the skills they need to succeed and to create meaningful tech-related job opportunities in these areas.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect with people, lead global teams, and leverage my vast global network to collaborate with leaders across industries. I’m committed to delivering impactful change that aligns with business goals while also uplifting communities. Currently, I’m collaborating with multiple groups and organizations to tackle issues of antisemitism and hate, promoting a more inclusive business and social environment. I advocate for a dialogue-based approach to human engagement, which fosters learning and understanding rather than unnecessary competition. I take pride in work that not only drives business success but also creates meaningful opportunities for positive social impact.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck, both good and bad, has definitely played a role in my life and business, though I’ve learned not to focus too much on it. Instead, I prioritize being prepared for the next opportunity, especially during challenging times—a mindset shaped by the teachings of stoicism.
For instance, my career started with a setback when my plans to attend medical school didn’t work out. However, this disappointment led me to project management, which became a pivotal turning point. Leading projects like the Lagos Beautification Project and launching Microsoft Azure in Japan during the COVID-19 pandemic were outcomes of this unexpected shift.
Another example of luck influencing my path was my decision to pursue an MBA. Initially, I had no intention of going to business school. But the financial demands of my philanthropic work, along with the responsibility of caring for the children of a very close loved one in my family, made me reconsider. I realized that advancing my education would help me support others more effectively, which led to my acceptance into a top 5 MBA program.
In the end, while luck plays a part, I’ve found that focusing on what’s within my control—preparing for opportunities and adapting to changes—has been key. When we concentrate on what we can influence, and leave the rest to the universe, things often work out in unexpected but meaningful ways.
