Today we’d like to introduce you to Brithani Byrd
Hi Brithani, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My love for cosmetology started at an early age. I enjoyed braiding my friend’s and family’s hair as a teenager. One summer I had the opportunity to tour multiple luxury salons in Houston and I really fell in love with the beauty industry. I started my cosmetology education during my senior year of high school. But I put it on pause to obtain an Accounting degree from Lamar University. I have worked as an auditor for about 10 years now, but I have never lost my love for all things beauty. I resumed my cosmetology education at Paul Mitchell the School of Houston in 2019.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Funny you should ask, the road recently got a bit bumpier after Hurricane Beryl. The spa where I was renting a suite had significant roof damage after the storm to the point where the ceiling collapsed in the studio next door. I walked in one day to get my studio ready for clients and buckets were catching water all over the suite. Which was really bad for my business. Being that they were already remodeling prior to the storm, the owners became overwhelmed and paused all remodeling and repairs. This has forced me to begin scouting for a new location for Humanity Hair Spa. As I prepare to relocate I am focusing on launching my new Raw Indian Hair collection so everything is balancing out, but still a bit frustrating. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m glad I opened the business.

Humanity Hair Spa is a multifaceted beauty brand that serves as a retailer for Halo Spa Beds and unprocessed hair extensions. The Spa specializes in treatments that promote healthy hair. By focusing on scalp care I help my clients obtain healthier strands and retain length. The Signature Spa Wash is my most popular service. The brand is dedicated to practices and products that prioritize the overall health of natural hair and holistic self-care.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I love helping my clients bring their vision to life. Whether it’s with their natural hair, hair extensions, or supplying a business owner, my favorite part of Humanity Hair Spa is meeting the client in the middle and making a difference. Giving a person a new look is always exciting for me as the creative and for the client who is trusting me with carrying out their vision. The end result is so satisfying!
